HIGH POINT, N.C. – The High Point University baseball team dropped the final home series opener, 8-5, to Campbell on Friday night.

Teddy Merritt got the start for the Panthers tonight. Merritt surrendered six hits in 17 batters faced through his three innings of work.
Javon Fields notched the first hit of the night for the Panthers with a single to right field. An error by the Camel defense allowed him to advance to third base as
Adam Stuart drove him in on the following at bat.
Cole Singsank led off the fifth inning with a ground-rule double to spark the Panthers offense. A walk for
Blake Sutton and a right field single for
Jackson Melton loaded the bases for HPU.
Peyton Carr was able to drive in two runs with a line drive to center field to make it a 7-3 game.
Stuart and
Andrew Amato were able to string together back-to-back singles to start off the sixth inning.
Three straight walks and a Campbell throwing error allowed for the Panthers to tack on one more run in the seventh inning.
Adam Stuart brought the Panthers within two with an RBI single to left field to score
Javon Fields.
David Keith had a solid day in relief going six innings, giving up three runs on three hits and four strikeouts.
