Everett Vaughan has been selected as the Big South's Freshman of the Week. This is the first time in his career that he has earned weekly honors from the conference.Â

Vaughan picked up three saves in three appearances on the week, the most saves by all league pitchers, throwing a total of 3.2 innings and helping the Panthers to three combined wins over UNC Greensboro and Winthrop. Vaughan's three saves also pushed him to tie the conference high for most saves this season (4). He helped HPU to two wins over Winthrop to clinch the series win and gave up no runs and no hits against the Eagles in his two appearances. In 1.0 inning pitched against Winthrop on Saturday (March 26), he struck out final batter to give High Point the 3-2 win.Â

Vaughan has earned a save in the last four games he has pitched and is tied for the Big South high in saves (4) and has double the saves of any other freshman in the league. Holding opponents to a .260 average, Vaughan ranks third on the teams staff and is second after Sean Duffy as relievers.Â
