Head Coach Chelsea Banbury: "At this point in the season, you're always happy to get a win when you're in a 'survive and advance' situation. Charleston came out in their zone and threw us off a little bit. I don't think we're attacking as much in the first quarter as we needed to be. But our defense was good enough to keep us in the game and then we really started attack a little better in the second quarter. And I think the intensity on the defensive end picked up and didn't let them get any easy shots, and then we were able to pull away with a little bit of relief going into halftime. Our kids battled out there, I thought their effort on the defensive end was excellent, I think holding anybody to 34 points is quite the accomplishment. And then Jensen was excellent. She 11 points that she scores, but she has 14 rebounds and I think people would be surprised at how many games you look at the box score and she has double digit rebounds. But she's in there, she's wanting to go after the ball, and that's what our team needs to get stops at that end of the court."

Panther Particulars
The Panthers got off to a slow start, as they were held scoreless for over five and a half minutes in the first quarter until Jaden Wrightsell was open under the basket and fouled on the made layup.

HPU got hot from deep in the second quarter, as Nakyah Terrell and Claire Wyatt hit a combined three triples in the quarter to put HPU up 18-12 with 2:52 remaining in the frame.

Callie Scheier also knocked down her first three-pointer off an inbounds play to give the Panthers a nine-point lead. Two more free throws from Wyatt gave HPU their first double-digit lead of the day and sent the Panthers to the locker room with the 23-12 lead.

Jenson Edwards hit her first three-pointer to open HPU's second half scoring effort and push the Panther lead back to 10 after a made jumper from the Buccaneers.

After another two points for CSU, Scheier hit a jumper and Terrell made a driving layup with 4:07 left in the period to give HPU the 30-16 lead.

Another Scheier layup and a reverse layup from Wrightsell closed out the period and kept a safe Panther lead, 34-22, with 10 minutes to play. Jenson Edwards started the fourth quarter hot as she went on a 6-0 solo run. Terrell got in on the action as she knocked down her third triple of the day and put the Panthers up, 43-25.

Scheier made another jumper to give HPU its largest lead a 21 and safely put away the game with 3:20 left, up 52-31.

Up Next: The No. 5 Panthers will meet No. 4 Gardner-Webb in the quarterfinals of the Big South Tournament on Thursday at 2:00 p.m. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+.
