Jaden Wrightsell. Wrightsell transferred from Tennessee State for her fifth and final year of eligibility. She has posted 11.3 points per game and 5.0 rebounds per game for HPU this season.

Entering the final week of regular season conference action, HPU is fifth in Big South women's basketball standings through Monday's games. Edwards Collects Third Double-Double
Jenson Edwards recorded her third double-double performance of the season against USC Upstate on February 12th while helping the Panthers pick up a 75-59 win in the Qubein Center. Edwards scored a game-high 24 points and pulled down 10 rebounds to go along with five assists, two blocks, and a steal.

Quadruple Threat
Four HPU players scored in double figures against the Spartans on February 12th.
Jenson Edwards led the team with 24 points and 10 rebounds while
Cydney Johnson chipped in 16 points and 6 rebounds.
Jordan Edwards was nearing a triple-double with 15 points, eight assists, and seven rebounds.
Jaden Wrightsell rounded out the top-four scorers with 11 points on 4-of-6 shooting from the floor.

Third Quarter Thing
An explosive third quarter effort from HPU on February 5th was a huge factor in picking up a 42-point win over Winthrop. The Panthers managed to score 27 points and held Winthrop to just four points on two layups in the period.

Edwards Passes Out 200
Senior
Jordan Edwards passed out her 200th HPU-career assist against A&T on February 2nd. Edwards tallied 142 assists a season ago and has managed 66 assists this season. In the last two games alone, Edwards totaled 17 assists.

Lock Down Defense
HPU's win over A&T was crucial in helping the Panthers climb the ladder in Big South rankings. A key factor in the win was High Point's ability to shut down the Aggie offense. In their previous six games, A&T had managed over 84 points per game. HPU held the hosts to 31 percent shooting in the field and 19 percent from beyond the arc.

HPU leads the Big South in turnover margin and assist/turnover ratio. The Panthers average just over 12 turnovers per game and have a margin of +5.3 turnovers compared to opponents.

Three-Time Freshman of the Week
Nakyah Terrell was named the Big South Freshman of the Week for the third time this season on January 24th after helping HPU to two wins over UNC Asheville and Hampton. Terrell averaged 10.5 points per game last week while tallying five steals and four assists.

Terrell also earned the weekly honor on November 15th and November 29th.

Balanced Threat
HPU's win over Hampton was a true team effort, as seven panthers scored seven or more points in the victory. There were also seven Panthers who played for 20 or more minutes against Hampton.

Fourth Frame Fun
HPU outscored UNC Asheville 23-15 in the final period on January 18th to pick up their second Big South win.
Jaden Wrightsell netted 13 of her 21 points in the quarter, including a turnaround jumper that tied the game in the final minute and two free throws that gave HPU the lead.

The Panthers shot nearly 82 percent from the floor in the period and went 5-for-6 at the free throw line to secure the victory.

Edwards Secures 40th Double-Digit Performance
In the January 18th win at Asheville,
Jenson Edwards scored 11 points, making it her 40th career double-digit scoring game in three seasons with the Panthers.

Edwards has also posted five career 20+ point scoring games and seven career double-double performances.

After starting off the season shooting 27.7 percent from behind the three-point line, HPU hit 17 triples against USC Upstate. Team three-point percentage jumped nearly two full points to 29.5 percent after that performance. Six players recorded three-pointers as the Panthers finished the night shooting 43 percent from the arc.

Claire Wyatt has blocked a team-high 15 shots this season and is eleventh in the Big South for blocked shots per game (0.7). She has led HPU in blocks in 11 games this season and 19 times in her career.

Callie Scheier recorded a Division I career-best performance at USC Upstate, scoring 23 points with five three-pointers and going 8-for-8 behind the charity stripe.

Doubled Up on Double-Doubles
Jenson Edwards and
Jaden Wrightsell each posted double-doubles against King. Edwards led HPU in scoring with 18 points and 10 rebounds while Wrightsell posted 12 rebounds and 15 points. It was the first time two Panthers posted double-doubles in the same game since Feb. 20, 2016.

Edwards posted her second double-double of the season (sixth in career) against Gardner-Webb with a balanced 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Jordan Edwards has served a team-high 85 assists this season. She ranks fourth in the Big South for assists per game (3.2 apg). Last season, Edwards tallied 142 assists on the season, good for fifth in HPU's single-season records.

Nakyah Terrell recorded her first career double-double against Wake Forest on Nov. 24th. She led the team with 21 points and 11 rebounds while also nabbing one steal and one assist.

Jenson Edwards finished in the top-five all-time for season field goal percentage in 2020-21. Edwards was 141-279 (.505) from the floor. Edwards was also ninth for free throws made and percentage in a season. She was third in percentage (.882) and ninth in free throws made (90). Jenson's .418 three-point percentage line last season was fourth all-time for HPU as well.

Head coach
Chelsea Banbury is entering her third season at the helm. She was named the fifth Division I head coach of High Point University's women's basketball team in June 2019. Banbury has a 38-20 record at High Point through her first two seasons.

Panthers Enter as Preseason No. 1
High Point was selected as the preseason No. 1 in the Big South while
Skyler Curran and
Jenson Edwards both earned Big South Preseason honors. Curran was named Big South Preseason Player of the Year after leading the team in scoring last season (17.7 points/game) while Edwards earned Big South Preseason Second Team recognition. Edwards also garnered the Becky Hammond Mid-Major Player of the Year Award after she posted the fifth-highest scoring average in the Big South with a total of 14.6 points per game.
