The High Point University men's basketball team (11-16, 5-8) will continue Big South play on Saturday afternoon (Feb. 19) as they travel to Radford to face the Highlanders. Tip off is set for 2 pm.
Across The Bench
Radford is 9-16 on the season this year and currently have a 5-8 record in Big South play. The Highlands are coming off of back-to-back wins against Hampton and Campbell.
Rashun Williams has been leading the Highlander offense in scoring this season with 229 points, averaging 9.5 points per game.
Last Time Out
In the largest crowd in Qubein Center history, the Panthers fell in a tight contest to Longwood 78-71 in the first nationally televised game on ESPNU in the Qubein Center. The raucous crowd of over 5,500 was loud and carried the Panthers in key moments in both the first and second halves. Jaden House led the Panthers with 20 points on the day, while John-Michael Wright also scored 18 points and led the Panthers with 7 rebounds. Bryant Randleman and Zack Austin also scored in double digits for the Panthers with 12 and 10 points each, respectively.
7x Big South Freshman of the Week
Austin earns his seventh Big South Freshman of the Week honor and tied the record for most Big South Freshman Weekly honors. Austin dropped 19 points against PC in the win. Against Campbell Austin had 11 rebounds.
Chairman of the Boards
Austin leads the Big South in rebounding; he averages 7.8 per game. Austin is ranked UNCA's Drew Pember is the second best with an average of 6.7 boards per game.
The Wright Way
Wright is averaging 18.9 points per game which leads the Big South. Wright is currently 4th all-time on the Division-I HPU scoring list with 1419. He is 650 points away from moving into 3rd and surpassing Arizona Reid.
Block Party
The Panthers are ranked #35 in the nation in blocked shots per game, averaging 4.8. HPU has 130 blocked shots on the season.
