Head coach
Chelsea Banbury: "I still think we have to make a lot of improvement. Our offense is still pretty sloppy, we're standing, and we're balanced. I purposefully didn't call plays; I don't want to in these games because I want to see if we can run our offense just because I think we're a lot harder to guard if the defense doesn't know what's coming. So we've got a lot to clean up before Elon on Sunday. They're a good team and we've got to make them guard movement. I think teams are holding us to fewer points than they should just because we're not moving on offense. We have too many good offensive players to only score 71 points tonight. We're going to clean some things up and see where we can make improvements."
The Panthers got on the board as
Jenson Edwards converted a three-point play with a baseline jumper before
Anna Häger hit her first three-point of the season to give HPU the 6-3 lead.
HPU continued the run with layups from

Shakira Baskerville before

After the Mountain Lions hit a three-pointer of their own,
Nevaeh Zavala hit a three-pointer of her own on the next possession. High Point finished the first quarter shooting over 58% from the floor and nearly 43% from beyond the arc.
Nakyah Terrell opened up the second period by scoring five of her seven first-half points within a 30-second span. Seeing her first action for the season,
Teegan Pifher came off the bench to score five points in the second half.
After a Pifher three pointer,
Jordan Edwards and
Callie Scheier each recorded a three-point plays after getting fouled on driving layups and making their free throws.
Skyler Curran made her first field goal of the night at the end of the half, putting up a tip in off an inbounds play from Terrell. HPU finished the half shooting 53 percent from the floor.
Terrell, Curran, and Scheier each had baskets in an early 7-0 run to start the third quarter. Concord closed the period on an 8-5 run, but HPU still held a 54-35 lead heading into the final 10 minutes.
