High Point, N.C. - The visiting Bulldogs did not stand a chance against the Panthers. The night game against UNC Asheville witnessed a season high five goals from HPU to take a 5-0 win over the Bulldogs.
Aaron McGuiness; "any game that we play and to have a result like that is excellent. This game was about a response from our last game and the players have worked really hard over the last week to really come back and respond, and they did it in style. It was a great win and it means a lot moving forward and taking it into the next game, making sure we maintain that form and build from that."
Skyler Prillaman kicked off the evening early with a goal in the opening three minutes of play.
The Bulldogs took a shot attempt to put one on the board but
Morgan Hairston's diving save, kept UNC Asheville at zero.
Before the end of the first half, Prillaman dished one off to
Fain Buete who was diving down the middle. A tap in the goal scored the Panthers second goal, making it 2-0 going into the half.
Eight minutes into the second half,
Shaylyn Owen took a shot that rebounded off the Bulldogs' goalkeeper, giving
Sam Gerhart a chance to knock a shot, high into the back of the net.
Isabelle Lee made her collegiate debut, collecting two saves in the second half.
A quick series of events led to High Points final two goals of the game.
Leah Malone scored her second goal of the season with a shot from 20 yards out. In less than a minute,
Emily Mashinski crossed one over to
Alex Murphy for the final goal of the night.
