Box Score HIGH POINT, N.C. – High Point University volleyball traveled to Charleston, South Carolina on Friday evening for a Big South matchup with Charleston Southern. The Panthers brought back the win after defeating the Buccaneers, 3-0. The 3-0 sweep gave coach Ryan Meek his 100th win since joining the Panthers in 2018.

Ryan Meek – "I thought our team stepped up today and got a sweep on the road against a very talented and physical Charleston southern team. We got contributions from all over our roster and we're going to need that if we want to keep our conference championship hopes alive tomorrow against Winthrop."

High Point kicked things off early with a 5-0 lead right out the gate.  With the steam rolling, Dylan Maberry dropped one right over the block to make it 9-6 for the Panthers.

HPU had a solid performance from the middles, as Maberry and Kathryn Wesolich both put it down on the Buccaneers. Wesolich's kill put the Panthers up 20-16 in the first set.

After securing set one, Charleston Southern opened set two with a 4-2 lead, the team's first lead of the match. The Panthers did not trail long as Maberry slammed one down off the arms of a Buccaneer player sending it into the bleachers to make it 11-10.

From there High Point held on to the lead, making it 22-19 with a another kill from Wesolich in the middle.

After taking set two, 25-20, Charleston Southern started set three similar to set two, but the Panthers did not let the Buccaneers get too far. Charleston Southern's early lead was cut short with a kill on the outside from Maggie Salley to put HPU up by one.

The power brought by Panthers was unstoppable for the Buccaneers as multiple hits could not be resurfaced to keep the play alive.

High Point went on to gain the match point and take the 3-0 sweep over the Buccaneers.
