HIGH POINT, N.C. - An absolute dominant performance by women's soccer adds another tally in the win column for the Panthers, with a 4-0 win against Gardner-Webb. High Point came out firing and continued to turn up the heat the entire 90 minutes of play. .
In just the fifth minute, Sam Gerhart netted a header off a Schossler corner kick. Gerhart was ecstatic after the game saying "I needed that goal, it made me feel as if I was finally getting back to my old self before my injury".Â
Redshirt senior Morgan Hairston was also incredible on the other end, allowing no goals from the Runnin' Bulldogs.Â
Early in the second half, Lindsey Dehaven scored off a penalty kick to put the Panthers up 2-0, but they were not done yet.
Just a few minutes after entering the match, junior Bri Davis scored back-to-back goals in the 80th and 84th minute to secure the win.Â
Coach McGuinness was extremely proud of his team and their efforts. He emphasized how hard the girls have been working at practice to really find their flow offensively and challenge themselves as much as possible defensively.
Gerhart also added, "I think we started our non-conference play in a rut, but I think as we are progressing into conference play, so is our offense".Â
Up Next: The Panthers take a week off before playing back at home against Presbyterian Saturday, October 22nd. Kickoff is set for 7:00.Â
