Ryan Meek – "I thought we played very well in spurts, and I thought our energy and focus was inconsistent in spurts. I thought the second set was one of our more complete efforts this season, so I was happy to see that. When we put touches together defensively, I think we're pretty tough to stop, we just need to do that more, as well as provide consistent pressure with our serve."
High Point leaked out on a 7-1 lead in the first set following six attack errors committed by the Bulldogs.
The Panthers did a solid job at the net throughout the three sets, collecting five in the first set.
Sopheea Mink and
Gabrielle Idlebird each contributed to two blocks a piece in the first set.
UNC Asheville snuck their way back into the game after being down by as much as 10 with eight straight points to close the gap to 21-19.
Sydney Palazzolo and
Dylan Maberry helped close out set one with two kills, to win 25-23.
Set two for the Panthers was a much stronger performance, as the team dominated on the attack. The team took off on another run, to take a 5-0 lead early.
Maberry was crushing it from the outside, earning six of her 11 kills in the second set. Not only did she kill it on the attack, but she also crushed it on defense with three blocks at the net.
The Panthers cruised through set two with a 25-13 win to lead 2-0 in overall sets.
The Bulldogs put up a fight in set three, as the teams traded points up until the 17-16 mark. A combination of Palazzolo, Maberry, and
