KERNERSVILLE, N.C. -- The High Point University men's cross country team ran to a second-place finish at the VertCross Invitational on Friday evening at the Redmon Sports Complex. The Panthers placed the runners in the top-10 and six in the top-20 for the evening, paced by
Othmane El Gharissi's seventh-place finish in 25:01.9.
Head coach
Mike Esposito: "I thought our intent was good, but again we just couldn't close the deal. But I believe in this group, and they're doing everything we ask. We've got to get everybody healthy and in two weeks we'll run low and give it a go. Our goal is to win the meet, that's why you come to these things, and especially when you host. We'll just sharpen the tool a little bit ahead of conference championships and get them there in one piece. They've done a lot of really good work to this point, so we sharpen up a little bit and try to get everybody healthy and ready to go for that day."
