Panthers in the Polls

HPU is in all three polls this week including 18 in the Top Drawer National Media Poll, the Panthers are fifth in the region for the United Soccer Coaches and are ranked 25th in the United Soccer Coaches poll.

Phipps Makes Weekly Honors

Nick Phipps has been selected as Big South Defensive Player of the week. Phipps assisted on the first goal in a marquee matchup vs Upstate. In the 54th minute of the contest against USC Upstate, he crossed a ball into the box that Perkins tracked down and nodded home for the first goal to put HPU up 1-0. Earlier in the week he helped lead the defense to a shutout of PC on Wednesday. Phipps helps anchor the best defense in the league with 0.44 GAA.

Keep Holden' On

Holden Trent went all 90 minutes in the 2-1 victory over USC Upstate. Trent is now tied for 7th in the nation for shutouts with five shutouts in nine games. Trent has recently been selected as a member of the Top Drawer Soccer Team of the Week. He is the second Panther to be chosen to a Top Drawer Soccer Team of the Week joining Myers.

House Call

MD Myers has been on fire to start the season. The Delran, New Jersey native is second in the nation in goals per game. Myers currently has 10 goals through HPU's first nine games. Myers has scored braces in five out of nine games.

Haines on Last Time

"I am proud of my team and my staff. They showed their character in a big game," head coach Zach Haines said after the 2-1 win. "Scott does a great job and his team is having a really good season. We knew it was going to be a challenge tonight and our guys were up for it. We are looking forward to the final stretch this season. This group is ready and prepared for a strong finish."

Limiting Chances

Over six games the Panthers have only allowed four goals. The Panther defense is holding opponents to a .063 shooting percentage with only 21 of the opponents' shots registered being on goal. HPU is outscoring opponents 24-4 which currently leads the nation in goal differential.

Bring 'em Back

High Point seniors Mason Marcey & Nick Phipps announced on social media last week that they are coming back for the Fall of 2021 season. This means the Panthers will return the entire roster from this spring & add a Top 25 recruiting class into the mix.
