FARMVILLE, Va.—The High Point University Women's lacrosse team won its third straight Big South game in a row and their fourth overall with a 19 to 7 win over Big South Opponent Longwood in Farmville on Wednesday (April 14). Abby Hormes continues her hot scoring streak as she finished the day with six goals. Through her first three conference games this season she has scored 21 goals; the senior now has 47 on the season. Ashley Britton added four goals in the win; she now has 12 goals in Big South play through only three games.

"Today was a total team effort. We made some adjustments after last week and I was happy to see the execution today," Coach Lyndsey Boswell said after the win. "Abby Hormes is in her zone right now, she's executing on the draw, in our transition and her shot percentage is on point. Overall I'm excited about the improvements we've made in the past few weeks and stay optimistic about what is coming for this team."

The Panthers got off to a fast start against the Lancers as Abby Hormes used an electrifying behind-the-back finish to start the scoring for HPU. Her behind-the-back move made immediate national headlines as US Lacrosse Magazine shared the highlight goal which came off of a feed from Kay Rosselli. The goal started a seven-goal run that was powered by three goals from Britton, two goals from Kaely Kyle, and two from Abby Hormes. The Panthers led 7-0. 

The Lancers answered the run with one of their own as they scored three goals to make it a 7-3 game with 16:18 remaining in the first. Abby Hormes found a goal for HPU to end the scoring run for the Lancers. Britton and Foster added on to Hormes' goal pushing the Panther lead to 10-3 with 7:35 left in the first half. The Lancers scored to make it a six-goal game but Kyle quickly replied with one of her own for her third goal of the game. High Point ended the first half on a high note as senior Kylie Holthaus scored her first goal of the season with 23 seconds remaining in the half to give the Purple & White a 12-4 advantage heading into the break.

The second half started the same way as the first with an Abby Hormes goal in the first two minutes of the half. The Lancers scored to make it 13-5, freshman Kay Rosselli scored off a free position to give HPU a 14-5 lead. Abby Hormes scored to make it a nine-goal game with 21:44 remaining in the second half. Rosselli made it a ten-goal lead for the Purple & White to make it 16-6 as the freshman picked up her second of the day. Katie Hormes added to the lead with her sixth of the season to make it 17-6 with 19:25 in the second half. Abby Hormes scored her 47th goal of the season and gave High Point 18 goals on the day. Nicole Pugh scored the final goal of the day for HPU to give the Panthers 19 on the afternoon. The Panthers would go on to win 19-7 as they picked up their fourth win in a row and the third Big South win in a row.
