The Patriot Golf Course at Grand Harbor
The Patriot Golf Course was designed by Davis Love III and is named in honor of the area's revolutionary war history. The course is classically styled and was built without moving much dirt or forcing holes where they didn't naturally belong. The rolling topography and mixture of pines and mature hardwoods make it ideally suited for golf, with a design that features an intelligent routing plan that promotes walking and good hole-to-hole flow.

Format and Schedule
The four-day event is broken down into three days of stroke play, followed by two rounds of head-to-head, single-elimination match play on the final day. The teams start stroke play on Wednesday (April 14), playing 18 holes on Wednesday, Thursday (April 15), and Friday (April 16). The top four teams advance into match play on Saturday (April 17), with No. 1 and No. 4 playing each other and the winner facing the winner of the No. 2 and No. 3 matchup for the Big South's automatic bid to the NCAA Regionals.

High Point enters as the third-highest ranked team according to Golfstat and will be playing in round one with Campbell and USC Upstate, beginning on hole one at 12:45 p.m. The teams are reseeded after each round, with the second and third rounds beginning at 8 a.m. with the bottom two teams and proceeding with tee times up until the final wave of the top-three teams tee off at 10:12 a.m. The match play semifinals will begin with the No. 1 vs. No. 4 matchup starting on hole one at 8 a.m. while the No. 2 vs. No. 3 semifinal begins on 10 five minutes later. The Big South Championship Match is slated to go off of the first at 1 p.m. later that day.

Last Time Out
High Point came in seventh place in the ECU Easter Invitational last weekend, firing a 297 in the final round for the fourth-best round of the day among the field. Samantha Vodry picked up her second win of the season in a wire-to-wire win at four-under.

Panthers at the Patriot
The Big South Championships have been at The Patriot each of the last three seasons and HPU has finished in the top three each of those seasons. The Panthers finished in second most recently in 2019, firing an 897 as a team to improve by 20 strokes from the year before. Vodry took home medalist honors that year at four-under. She's been the Purple and White's top finisher in the conference tournament each of the last three seasons, going a combined four-under over the nine rounds, with four rounds under par.

Historic Victory
Vodry's won in back-to-back tournaments after winning both the Georgia State and ECU Easter Invitationals, giving her a program-record four victories in her career. She's just the second golfer in program history to earn multiple wins in the same season and has done it in just five events.

Birdie Milestone
Vodry also set another milestone in Greenville last week, becoming the first player in program history to record 300 birdies in her career. She picked up 10 in the event to give her 308 in her career entering the postseason and become just the second HPU golfer on either the men's or women's side to join the 300-birdie club.

Up Next: This winner of the 2021 Big South Women's Golf Championship will represent the Big South in the NCAA Regionals, scheduled for May 10-12 at sites to be determined.
