The High Point University volleyball team (12-0, 12-0 Big South) kicks off a four-match home streak to end its regular season when Campbell (9-3, 9-3 Big South) visits the Millis Center for a pair of matches this week. Thursday (March 25) will be a pink-out while Friday's match (March 26) is designated as Senior Day, where Abby Bottomley, Kassidy Dickerson, and Ali Thanhauser will be recognized prior to the match.

Matchup History
  • High Point and Campbell have played each other 35 times since HPU joined Division I in 1999, with the Purple and White holding a 21-14 advantage in the series.
  • The Panthers took both matches in the regular season a year ago in straight sets to extend their winning streak to six straight against the Fighting Camels before having it snapped in the Big South Tournament semifinals.
  • Campbell hasn't won consecutive matches against HPU since taking both in the season series in 2014.

Across the Bench
  • Campbell is 9-3 on the season and is coming off of a pair of wins in straight sets against Presbyterian.
  • The Fighting Camels started out with back-to-back weekend sweeps in straight sets to start the season before picking up three consecutive splits, winning the first match 3-0 before losing the second 3-1 in each.
  • Campbell currently leads the conference in kills and assists per set, averaging 14.3 kills per set (14th in the nation) and 13.4 assists per set (ninth in the nation).
  • The Camels are also one of the best serving teams in the conference with a total of 73 aces for an average of 1.9 per set to lead the Big South in both categories and sit 19th in the country in aces per set.
  • Lailah Green leads Campbell's offense with an average of 3.58 kills per set, the second-best mark in the conference. Behind her is three-time Freshman of the Week Chloe Cook at 2.67 kills per set and Preseason Player of the Year Sarah Colla at 2.64.
  • Claranne Fechter leads the Fighting Camels' defensive backend with an average of 4.26 digs per set, putting her fourth in the Big South. Fechter is the reigning Big South Libero of the Week after totaling 45 digs in six sets last week.

Panther Notes
Last Time Out
High Point extended its winning streak to 12 matches to start the season on Friday after taking both in a doubleheader at Charleston Southern. HPU trailed in the first set 2-0 before storming back to take it in five and then won the second set in five sets as well, the first two five-set matches of the season for the Purple and White.

Can You Dig It?
Abby Bottomley made history against Charleston Southern on Friday as she recorded her 2,000th career dig in the second match. She's just the second Panther to reach the milestone since the program joined Division I in 1999 and the sixth player in the Big South to hit 2,000 digs.

Staying in Lockdown Mode
High Point's defense has been stingy all season long, holding opponents to hitting just .092, the third-lowest opponent hitting percentage in the country. The Panthers have held opponents to hitting .100 or lower in eight matches, including a season-best -.044 in the second match of the year, and has only allowed an opponent to hit over .150 twice - both occurring on Friday at Charleston Southern.

Player of the Week
Annie Sullivan was named the Big South Player of the Week on Tuesday (March 23) after totaling 34 kills in the two matches while hitting .326. It's the second Player of the Week award in her career after winning one last season and is the fifth weekly honor HPU has received from the Big South this season after Gabrielle Idlebird and Madison Smith won Player of the Week awards previously and Bottomley has won two Libero of the Week citations.

Thank You Seniors
Friday, High Point will honor its three seniors in Bottomley, Kassidy Dickerson, and Ali Thanhauser. The trio has a combined winning percentage of .716 the last four years, with a mark of .931 in conference play, making them the most successful class in High Point's Division I history.

Going Streaking
The Panthers have won 12 matches in a row to start the season, tied for the second-longest winning streak in program history, and is the best start to conference play since the Purple and White went undefeated in 2017. HPU has also won 12 conference matches away from home dating back to last season, one away from matching the program record while the eight consecutive road wins this year is a new program benchmark.

Heavy Hitting
HPU hit .427 in its season-opening match, the third-highest hitting percentage in a single match in High Point's history since the scoring format switched to the current 25-point method. The Panthers have hit above .300 in six of the 12 matches played this season and have only hit below .200 once. High Point has one of the most efficient offenses in the country, entering the weekend in seventh place nationally with a .304 hitting percentage.

Two in the Top-20
Kaley Rammelsberg and Idlebird are two of the top hitters in the country, entering Thursday in seventh and 16th place in the country, respectively, in hitting percentage. Rammelsberg has racked up 106 kills with 16 errors on 191 attempts to hit .471 while Idlebird has 82 kills with 16 errors in 159 attempts. The duo also sit third and fourth, respectively, on HPU's kills list this season.

Nifty Fifty
The second win at Upstate was the 50th at HPU for head coach Ryan Meek. He reached the 50-win mark in just 73 matches, making him the fastest coach to hit the milestone in High Point's D1 history.

Ready, SET, Go!
High Point won 25 consecutive sets before dropping the third one to Winthrop in the first match between the two last this season. The streak ended one short of matching the program record for consecutive sets won, as did the streak of matches won in straight sets at seven.

Milestone Matches
Bottomley reached two milestones of 100 against Upstate in the two matches. Her 17 digs to lead the team on Thursday was the 100th match she's ended with double-digit digs while her 15 on Friday led the team in the category for the 100th time out of her 105 career matches.

Career Highs
Against Radford on Feb. 25, Bottomley recorded a career-high five aces, the most any Panther has had in a single game since Megan Kratzer had seven against Charleston Southern in 2019. Redshirt sophomore Madison Smith led the Panthers offensively the next night (Feb. 26), recording a career-high 17 kills in the three-set match - the most any HPU player has had in a single match this season.

Welcome to the Club
Bottomley became the sixth HPU player in its Division I history to join the 1,000 digs and 100 service aces club with her four-ace performance in the win at UNC Asheville earlier this season (Feb. 17). She enters Friday with 2,019 digs and 117 service aces in her career, the second-most digs in program history and the seventh-most aces.

A Team Effort
Three Panthers had double-digit kills in both matches against Charleston Southern to make it four times that's happened this season. Sullivan and Rammelsberg were first and second on the team in both matches, with Sullivan leading the way with 19 and 15, followed by Rammelsberg with 12 and 13. Kratzer was third in match one with 11 kills while Maggie Salley had as many in the second match.

Ace, Ace, Baby
The Panthers served up 13 aces in their second victory over Presbyterian (Feb. 5), tied for the third-most service aces in a single match in HPU history in the current 25-point scoring system. High Point is currently second in the conference with an average of 1.9 aces per set, putting it 21st in the country. Bottomley's .57 aces per set are 14th in the country and best in the Big South.

Set for Success
High Point currently sits at second in the conference in assists per set with an average of 13.2. The duo of Maria Miggins and Mackenzi Thornburg are each in the top-10 in the conference for assists per set, averaging 6.4 and 4.9 assists per set, respectively.

Up Next: High Point finishes out the regular season at home, hosting Campbell next weekend (March 25-26) before Gardner-Webb visits the Millis Center the following week (April 1-2).
