The High Point University women's basketball team dropped a 62-46 ballgame to No. 16 South Florida in Tampa.
Jenson Edwards led HPU with 17 points and
Jaden Wrightsell chipped in nine.
Amaria McNear and
Cydney Johnson each pulled down four rebounds.
Jordan Edwards had three steals and three assists.
Chelsea Banbury: "I'm really happy how our girls battled on the defensive end. Although we had some breakdowns, I thought this was the best we have played at that end. It was also really nice seeing Amaria (McNear) get out there after being out for so long."

Panther Particulars
HPU got out to a hot start, scoring the first eight of nine points in the game.
Jenson Edwards led the Panthers, scoring seven of the team's 12 points in the opening period. But USF would battle back and lead 14-12 at the end of the first quarter.

The Panthers continued to battle with the top-25 squad, managing to stay within seven at the halftime break.
Nakyah Terrell had all four of her first half points in the quarter.

USF gained momentum in the third period, stretching their lead by as much as 13 points, but another
Jenson Edwards triple cut the lead to 10 heading into the final period.

The Bulls proved to be too much in the fourth, as they opened the period with an 8-2 run and maintained control through the rest of the game.Â
