The High Point University women's basketball team will play its first regular-season home game in the Qubein Center as the Panthers welcome triad foe Elon on Tuesday, November. HPU hosts Elon after defeating Mount Olive in an exhibition last week in what was the opening week of the Qubein Center.

Across The Bench
The Phoenix were 7-8 a season ago. Elon picked up four non-conference wins against Gardner-Webb, Western Carolina, Furman, and UNCG.

#0 Brie Perpignan returns for her senior season after leading Elon in scoring last season. The Alexandria, Virginia Native scored 149 points on the year averaging 9.9 points per game.

Charlotte Smith enters her 11th season as the head coach of the Phoenix. Basketball fans may remember as the former University of North Carolina women's basketball standout who hit the game-winning shot in the 1994 national championship game. While at Elon she has accumulated a 176-138 record.

Last Time Out
On their opening night in the Qubein Center, the High Point University Panthers picked up an 82-68 exhibition win over Mount Olive. Skyler Curran had a team-high 18 points and added two assists.

Banbury is Back
Head coach Chelsea Banbury is entering her third season at the helm. She was named the fifth Division I head coach of High Point University's women's basketball team in June 2019. Banbury has a 38-20 record at High Point through her first two seasons.

The Champs Are Here

In 2020-21, Banbury led the Panthers to their third Big South regular-season championship and their first-ever Big South Tournament Championship after going 22-7 on the year. The Panthers entered the NCAA Tournament as a 16-seed but fell to No. 1 UConn in the first round. High Point will seek to build off a spectacular season and advance to back-to-back national tournaments.

Panthers Enter as Preseason No. 1
High Point was selected as the preseason No. 1 in the Big South while Curran and Jenson Edwards both earned Big South Preseason honors. Curran was named Big South Preseason Player of the Year after leading the team in scoring last season (17.7 points/game) while Edwards earned Big South Preseason Second Team recognition. Edwards also garnered the Becky Hammond Mid-Major Player of the Year Award after she posted the fifth-highest scoring average in the Big South with a total of 14.6 points per game.

H3U
HPU stayed true to their nickname "H3U" by shooting 41.2 percent from three-point range in the first half with five different players hitting at least one triple against UMO.
