DAVIDSON, N.C. – The High Point University women's basketball team dropped a 76-54 ballgame to Davidson on the road Saturday evening.
Claire Wyatt led the Panthers with 17 points while
Jenson Edwards chipped in 15 to go along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Jordan Edwards dished out five assists, tying her season high.
Chelsea Banbury: "I give Davidson a lot of credit. They played hard and executed at a high level. We need to clean some things up and refocus and ready to execute on Wednesday.
Panther Particulars
The Panthers pulled within 11-7 in the first quarter off a
Callie Scheier three-pointer after a slow start.
In the last two minutes of the half, HPU ignited a 7-0 run to close the gap, 32-26, but Davidson countered with a five-point streak of their own to take a 37-26 lead into halftime.
Jenson Edwards and
Wyatt each had baskets during the run, but the Panthers could not string a run together to take the lead.
Davidson continued to build their lead in the second half.
Jordan Edwards found
Jenson Edwards at the top of the key for a triple to cut the lead to 14 points, but the deficit was too great for a late rally.
