The High Point University women's basketball team (15-13, 13-6 Big South) closes out its regular season with a contest against UNC Asheville (15-14, 9-10 Big South) on Saturday (March 7). The Panthers will be honoring seniors Camryn Brown and Olivia VanSlooten before the game in a Senior Day recognition.

Matchup History
  • Saturday is the 55th meeting between High Point and UNC Asheville and the Bulldogs are HPU's most-played opponent in the Big South and second-most played overall, trailing Elon.
  • The Panthers lead the series 38-16 and hold a 19-5 advantage in the Millis Center.
  • Asheville got the better of the Purple and White in the first meeting this year, winning 76-60. Brown scored 14 points in the game, with her 10th point being the 1,000th of her collegiate career.

Panther Notes
  • High Point pushed its winning streak to four games on Wednesday, beating Charleston Southern 71-55 to complete the season sweep of the Buccaneers.
  • Redshirt freshman Jenson Edwards notched her second-straight double-double, scoring 12 points and grabbing a career-high 12 rebounds. Brown led the scoring with 21 points, her fourth straight game scoring 20+ and fifth such game in the last six.
  • Both Brown and Edwards played all 40 minutes in the game, the 11th and 12th times a Panther has been credited with a full game this year.
  • Redshirt sophomore Zaria Wright scored 20 in the game to match her career-high and give HPU two 20-point scorers for the third time this year and second game in a row.
  • Edwards was named the Big South Freshman of the Week this week and sophomore Skyler Curran picked up the Player of the Week honors, giving High Point its first sweep of the conference weekly awards since the 2010-11 season.
  • VanSlooten hit a milestone in Wednesday's game, playing in her 100th game in her career, joining Brown as two Panthers to reach that mark this season.
  • High Point can finish anywhere between third and fifth in the conference standings, depending on how the rest of the games in the conference go on Saturday.

Across the Bench
  • UNC Asheville sits in the middle of the pack in the Big South, entering the final game of the regular season in sixth place with a 9-10 record in conference play and a 15-13 mark on the season overall.
  • The Bulldogs have lost two straight games, with their last win coming on Feb. 22 vs. USC Upstate, a 53-45 victory for Asheville.
  • UNC Asheville is one of the best rebounding teams in the country, entering Saturday ranked 18th in all of Division I in rebounding margin (+8.5), 29th in offensive rebounds per game (14.7), and 32nd in total rebounds per game (41.4).
  • Brooke Jordan-Brown is a big reason why the Bulldogs are so effective on the glass as she leads the conference in rebounding and ranks 19th in the country in both offensive rebounds per game (4.0) and total rebounds per game (10.6) and sits 24th in total rebounds (296).
  • Nadiria Evans is Asheville's leading scorer, averaging 14.4 points per game while Sonora Dengokl is right behind her with an average of 12.3 PPG.

Up Next: HPU has clinched a top-five seed in the Big South Tournament to earn a bye past the first round of the tournament on Tuesday straight into the quarterfinals on Thursday (March 12). The Panthers will need to wait until the dust settles on the final day of Big South play to see where they will be headed and who they will face.
