Moon Township, PA.-- The High Point University men's lacrosse team (1-5) dropped a road contest to Robert Morris (2-2) on Saturday afternoon (Feb. 29). Asher Nolting led the team in points with five on the day. Nolting, Tyler Hendrycks, and Devon Buckshot were tied for the team-high in goals with two each in the game. Jake Schleppy added four points in the game as he had three assists and a goal. 

"As the Head Coach of this team I take 100% of the blame for the loss, head coach Jon Torpey said. Now we have one day to prepare for a well-coached St. Bonaventure team, it's my hope that myself and every single person in our program will improve moving forward."

Freshman Caison Dillon got the start at attack and put High Point on the board first in the first quarter to give High Point a 1-0 advantage. The opening goal marked Dillon's first goal of his Panther career. He was assisted by Nolting. The Panthers were scoreless for six minutes but Nolting broke up the drought with a diving goal to put HPU up 2-1. Robert Morris tied it but Hunter Vines would answer a few moments later with a goal of his own. To put HPU back up 3-2. The colonials found a third goal before the end of the quarter to tie the game at three. 

Nolting has recorded a point in every game he played in at HPU (36 games). His 36-game streak ranks 14th in the nation. He has 184 points during this steak. He is also currently on a 21-game goal streak with 53 goals scored during this stretch. Nolting is the SOCON's active leader in points. 

RMU started the second quarter by scoring, to go up by one (4-3). Nolting tied it up at four with 11:24 left to play. Nolting was assisted by Schleppy. The assist got Schleppy going, less than three minutes later Schleppy scored to put HPU up one (5-4). The colonials rattled off two quick goals to take the lead (6-5.) Ben Baker scored his first of the day to tie the game at six and even up the game heading into halftime. 

Robert Morris built a lead in the third scoring five goals. Buckshot scored both of HPU's goals in the third. His first would tie the game at seven. RMU went on a three-goal run, Buckshot and the Panthers would answer by taking advantage of a man-up opportunity. Nolting found Buckshot on the man up as Buckshot scored his second goal of the day to make it a two-goal game (10-8). The Colonials added one more to give themselves a three-goal lead heading into the fourth. 

Junior Sean Coughlin opened up the fourth quarter for HPU with a goal. A great pass from Nolting at X set it up. Coughlin's goal gave High Point nine goals and brought the purple and white within two with the score 11-9. The Colonials scored to move the deficit back to three. Tyler Hendrycks answered with a goal off an assist from Schleppy which made it a 12-10 game. RMU answered to take a three-goal advantage with 4:18 left. With 3:51 remaining the duo of Schleppy and Hendrycks connected again and the freshman picked up his second goal of the fourth quarter. Hendrycks once again made it a two-goal game. RMU answered with a three-goal run to close the game.

Antonio Arcona was in goal for HPU, the sophomore made 10 saves on Saturday afternoon. 

Up Next: High Point returns home for the first time since Feb. 8 when the Panthers will host St. Bonaventure on Monday (March 2).
