After picking up its first win of the season, the High Point University men's basketball team heads to Asheville for its first Big South games of the season. HPU will face UNC Asheville on back to back days on Friday (Dec. 11) at 5:00 PM and Saturday (Dec. 12) at 3:00 PM. Both games will be available to watch on ESPN+. The Panthers face the Bulldogs after splitting the matchup a year ago, in each case the away team was victorious.
Matchup History
- HPU is 22-24 against UNC Asheville since becoming a D-1 program in 1999.
- Tubby Smith is 4-1 against UNC Asheville all-time as a head coach.
- The Panthers split the series a season ago against the Bulldogs. High Point defeated Asheville 68-66 on the road (Jan. 16). The Bulldogs won when they came to the Millis Center (Feb. 27) 80-76.

Panther Notes
Wright Time
For the third straight game, John Michael Wright was the leading scorer with 23 points in the win against North Florida on Saturday. The sophomore is averaging a Big South Conference-leading 24.0 points per game. His points per game rank Wright tenth in the nation in scoring.
Dell's Dazzling Display
Against UNF last Saturday Lydell Elmore had his best performance to date in a High Point uniform dropping 21 points, bringing in six boards, and delivering two blocks. Elmore was four points shy of his career-high of 25 points, which came against Elizabeth City State last season during his time at Livingstone College.
He's the Man
Emmanuel Izunabor picked up from where he left off on Saturday as he posted his second straight performance in double figures. The sophomore has scored 33 points on the season which, is the second-most on the team. The big man is averaging 11 points per game.
New House on the Block
Jaden House came off of the bench for HPU against UNF and contributed 13 quality minutes scoring eight points for The Purple and White.
Coach Smith is 24-21 all-time as a head coach against Big South schools.
