The High Point University women's basketball team (7-10, 5-3 Big South) heads back on the road to face Hampton University (10-7, 6-2 Big South) Saturday afternoon (Jan. 25). A win for the Panthers would move them into a tie for second place, with up to three other teams all at 6-3 in Big South play after nine games.

Matchup History
  • This is just the third meeting between High Point and Hampton, playing for the first time a season ago.
  • The Panthers won both games last season, winning 82-73 at home and 104-98 in a shootout on the road.
  • Last year's game at Hampton was the last time the Panthers scored 100 points in a game and is the last time HPU has shot over 50% from the floor, connecting at a rate of 50.6% in the win.
  • Saturday is a meeting of the only two schools currently in the Big South to have 800 wins as a program since High Point started playing in the 1967-68 season. The Panthers enter the game with 801 victories as a program while Hampton enters with 816 since starting in the 1975-76 season.

Panther Notes
  • High Point won its third consecutive game on Tuesday with a 60-55 victory over Presbyterian at the Millis Center.
  • Sophomore Skyler Curran posted her third double-double of the season, leading the team with 23 points and a career-high 13 rebounds. She finished one rebound shy of senior Miya Bull's mark of 14 for the most by a Panther in a single game this season.
  • Zaria Wright scored in double digits for the second game in a row and fifth time this season. The redshirt sophomore scored 15 points against the Blue Hose to become the third-leading scorer for the Panthers this season.
  • Senior Camryn Brown was honored prior to Tuesday's game for becoming the 13th Panther in the Division I era of HPU women's basketball to score 1,000 points. She hit the mark on Jan. 9 in a loss at UNC Asheville. She enters Saturday's game in 10th place on the Panthers' Division I scoring list with 1,049 points, needing just 10 more to move into ninth place.
  • HPU is 5-1 in 2020 and has scored 60 or more points in all six games in the new year, scoring more than 80 twice. The Purple and White have shot above 40% in all but two games since Jan. 1. Tuesday was one of those games, the first time High Point has won a game this season when shooting below 40%.
  • Curran's scoring outburst over the last two games has moved her scoring average up to 17.2 points per game, the most in the Big South.
  • High Point is closing in on its single-season record for three-point makes and attempts, entering the game with 169 makes and 561 attempts. The Panthers are 31 makes away from becoming the first team in program history to make 200 triples in a season and 53 attempts shy from setting a new record of 614 attempts from behind the arc.
