The High Point University women's basketball team (4-10, 2-3 Big South) stays on the road for a game at Charleston Southern (2-11, 0-4 Big South) on Saturday afternoon (Jan. 11). It's the middle game of a three-game road trip, part of a greater stretch where the Panthers play 10 of 13 games on the road from Nov. 18 to Jan. 18.
Â
Matchup History
- This is the 46th meeting between the two schools, with High Point holding a 30-15 lead in the previous 45.
- It has been a tightly contested series as of late, with each of the last nine games decided by seven points or less.
- High Point is 14-7 on the road in Charleston and enters on a six-game winning streak in the Buccaneer Fieldhouse.
- HPU will look to avenge last year's loss to the Buccaneers that snapped a five-game winning streak against CSU and eliminated the Panthers in the quarterfinals of the Big South Tournament.
Â
Panther Notes
- High Point lost Thursday night in Asheville, 76-60.
- Sophomore Skyler Curran led the team in points (15) and rebounds (7) again, making it five out of the last six games she has lead the Panthers in both categories.
- Senior Camryn Brown and redshirt sophomore Danielle Deoul each had 14 points, with Deoul going 4/4 from behind the arc en route to her career-high.
- Brown's 10th point of last night's game gave her 1,000 in her career, making her the 13th Panther in the Division I era of High Point women's basketball to reach the 1,000-point mark.
- The Panthers enter the game with 798 victories as a program. Two more wins would make High Point the second team in the Big South to reach 800 wins since HPU's program started during the 1967-68 season (Hampton has 814 wins entering Saturday).
- High Point is closing in on its single-season record for three-point attempts, entering the game with 472 attempts from behind the arc, 142 away from breaking the record set during the 2006-07 season.
