Live Stats | Watch

The High Point University women's basketball team (4-10, 2-3 Big South) stays on the road for a game at Charleston Southern (2-11, 0-4 Big South) on Saturday afternoon (Jan. 11). It's the middle game of a three-game road trip, part of a greater stretch where the Panthers play 10 of 13 games on the road from Nov. 18 to Jan. 18.

Matchup History
  • This is the 46th meeting between the two schools, with High Point holding a 30-15 lead in the previous 45.
  • It has been a tightly contested series as of late, with each of the last nine games decided by seven points or less.
  • High Point is 14-7 on the road in Charleston and enters on a six-game winning streak in the Buccaneer Fieldhouse.
  • HPU will look to avenge last year's loss to the Buccaneers that snapped a five-game winning streak against CSU and eliminated the Panthers in the quarterfinals of the Big South Tournament.

Panther Notes
  • High Point lost Thursday night in Asheville, 76-60.
  • Sophomore Skyler Curran led the team in points (15) and rebounds (7) again, making it five out of the last six games she has lead the Panthers in both categories.
  • Senior Camryn Brown and redshirt sophomore Danielle Deoul each had 14 points, with Deoul going 4/4 from behind the arc en route to her career-high.
  • Brown's 10th point of last night's game gave her 1,000 in her career, making her the 13th Panther in the Division I era of High Point women's basketball to reach the 1,000-point mark.
  • The Panthers enter the game with 798 victories as a program. Two more wins would make High Point the second team in the Big South to reach 800 wins since HPU's program started during the 1967-68 season (Hampton has 814 wins entering Saturday).
  • High Point is closing in on its single-season record for three-point attempts, entering the game with 472 attempts from behind the arc, 142 away from breaking the record set during the 2006-07 season.

Three-Point Club make total: 138

Across the Bench
  • Charleston Southern is 2-11 on the year and 0-4 in Big South play. The Buccaneers enter Saturday on a five-game losing streak.
  • Eighth-year head coach Fred Applin has led the Buccaneers to four-straight 10-win seasons after winning only one game over his first three years.
  • CSU is second in the conference in steals per game, averaging 9.6 swipes per contest.
  • Tierra Steede leads the Bucs' offense, averaging 12.7 points per game. She also leads Charleston So. on the glass, grabbing 6.7 rebounds per game.
  • Joining her in double-digit points per game is Carmella Walker with 10.7 PPG and right behind Steede in rebounding is Sharita Godfrey with 5.9 RPG.
  • Asia Smith is the only Buccaneer to win a weekly award from the Big South so far this season, being named the Big South Freshman of the Week on Dec. 9 after recording her first career double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds in CSU's win over Virginia-Lynchburg.

Up Next: High Points wraps up the road trip with a game at Longwood next Saturday (Jan. 18). The Panthers make their return to the Millis Center the following Tuesday (Jan. 21) when Presbyterian comes to town.
