·     Kyle Levesque capitalized on a penalty kick opportunity in the 40th minute giving the panthers their lone goal in the contest.
Huntington, WV- Marshall used a big first half to power them to a 3-1 victory over the High Point Panthers. The Thundering Herd tied their season-high in goals with 3.
Play was even between the two teams early, it was Marshall who opened up the scoring in the 17th minute off a Molly Preston goal. The Thundering Herd would add to their lead scoring ten minutes later off of a corner kick to make it 2-0.
High Point would cut into the Herd lead in the 40th minute, redshirt sophomore Charla Ward was fouled in the box which set up a penalty kick for the Panthers. Senior Kyle Levesque would take the kick for the Panthers, Levesque stepped up and buried it to make it 2-1. With the goal, Levesque became the leading scorer for High Point this year with 2 currently.
Marshall did not wait long to respond, the herd scored a minute later off of a goal from Mary Lawman, she had two on the day. Marshall took a 3-1 lead into the break.
High Point came out in the second half focused and ready to play. The Panthers who only had 4 shots in the first half, outshot the herd 12-7 in the 2nd half. HPU registered 6 shots on goal in the second half. The Panthers finished the day with 16 shots and 10 on goal. The Panthers applied significant offensive pressure on the Herd with 3 corner kicks in the second half alone.
After Marshall scored 3 goals in the first half High Point shut out the Thundering Herd in the second half. Goalkeeper Talia Klimes recorded 4 saves on the day.
Levesque led the Panthers in shots with 4 while Vidal and Schossler were tied for 2nd with 3 shots each.
Today's game against Marshall was the last non-conference game of the season for High Point.
