BALTIMORE, Md.—The No. 25 High Point University women's lacrosse team traveled to Baltimore and took down No. 14 Johns Hopkins, 13-10, Wednesday evening (March 13) at Homewood Field.

This was the highest-ranked opponent the Panthers have defeated. It is also the fifth win over a ranked opponent in program history and the fourth in the last three seasons.Â

The Panthers (4-3) scored the final three goals of the first half to take a 6-4 lead and held the Blue Jays (6-2) scoreless for over 23 minutes, including the last 18 minutes of the first half. JHU was able to pull within two with 5:10 to go, but was unable to score again as sophomore
Sarah Zeto made one of her 12 big saves with 2:08 remaining as the Blue Jays made a break.

"We were locked in tonight and worked so hard to get this result on the road," HPU head coach
Lyndsey Boswell said. "(Sarah) Zeto was unbelievable in the cage and kept us in it a few times. I was really proud of the way she led the defense.

Meredith Chapman were fearless, they led the group and caused some key turnovers. We had a lot of offensive contributions, so I'm excited to take this into another tough game Saturday.

Mena Loescher each recorded hat tricks. Sophomore
Abby Hormes tallied a pair of goals and redshirt junior
Meredith Chapman scored her first goal of the season and collected five ground balls, four draw controls and caused five turnovers.

HPU held a small advantage in ground balls, 27-26, while the Blue Jays recorded one more shot, 32-31. Johns Hopkins held a 15-10 advantage in the draw circle.

Maggie Schneidereith led Johns Hopkins with five goals.

Up next, the Panthers stay in Maryland for spring break and play a neutral-site game against Hofstra on Saturday (March 16). First draw at the U.S. Lacrosse Headquarters' Tierney Field in Sparks, Md., is set for 5 p.m.
