The High Point University volleyball team (17-10, 9-1 Big South) plays its final road matches of the regular season this weekend against Campbell (13-10, 7-3 Big South) on Friday, Nov. 8, at 5:30 p.m. and Hampton (6-15, 1-9 Big South) on Saturday at 2 p.m.

Matchup History
  • HPU is 20-13 all-time against Campbell. The Panthers swept the Fighting Camels earlier in the season to extend their winning streak to five straight matches.
  • High Point and Hampton played each other for the first time last year, with the Panthers coming away victorious. HPU beat the Lady Pirates in four sets earlier this year to make it a 2-0 advantage over Hampton.

Panther Notes
  • High Point split last weekend, defeating Radford on the road in four sets and losing to Florida State at home in a five-set thriller.
  • Junior Abby Bottomley was named Big South Defensive Player of the Week for the sixth time this season, becoming the first player to ever win the award six times in one year and only the fourth Big South volleyball player to win the same weekly award six times in a single year.
  • Bottomley recorded 60 digs in the nine sets for an average of 6.67 per set. She had 43 of them against Florida State, one shy of her career-best of 44 in a single match. Last weekend's performance has moved her back into the top 10 in Division I in total digs and digs per set.
  • HPU has now had a Player of the Week eight weeks in a row and nine of the 10 weeks the Big South has awarded weekly honors. The Panthers have a total of 12 Big South weekly awards, the most of any school in the conference.
  • Freshman Megan Kratzer had a big weekend as well, totaling 36 kills over the two matches. She had 20 in Friday's win over Radford, the second time she up 20 on the Highlanders this season, and was one of four Panthers in double-digits against Florida State, tying for the team lead with 16.

Across the Bench
  • Campbell split last weekend, beating Gardner-Webb in four sets and losing to Winthrop in five.
  • Sophomore Sarah Colla leads the Big South with an average of 4.17 kills per set. She's second in the conference total kills, with 325.
  • Senior Allena Heath is the premier server in the conference, coming into the weekend leading in service aces (54) and aces per set (0.44).
  • Hampton lost both of its matches in four sets last weekend and is currently on a six-match losing skid.
  • Sophomore Gabby Calloway is fifth in the conference in kills per set, averaging just under three kills per set at 2.99.
  • Junior setter Lena Reed-Petracek sits third in the Big South for assists, averaging 7.04 per set.

Up Next: High Point closes out the regular season at home next weekend with matches against Charleston Southern and Presbyterian on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 15 and 16. Friday's match against CSU is at 7 p.m. and is the Panthers' 'Flashback Friday' promotion with the first 200 fans receiving a double-sided High Point University and College pennant. Saturday's contest against Presbyterian will be HPU's senior day, where seniors Jenna Smith and Jenna Weidner will be honored for their time in the Purple and White. First serve on Saturday is scheduled for 2 p.m.
