The High Point University volleyball team (16-9, 8-1 Big South) will split its time this weekend on the road and at home for a pair of matches. The Panthers travel to Radford (8-13, 4-5 Big South) for a road conference match on Friday, Nov. 1 at 6 p.m. before returning to the Millis Center on Saturday for a 1 p.m. showdown with Florida State (14-6, 7-1 ACC). Saturday's match is High Point's 'Day of the Dead' match, with the first 100 students receiving a Panther Sugar Skull hat and all fans in attendance receiving HPU Sugar Skulls.

Matchup History
  • HPU is 27-20 all-time against Radford and is currently riding a four-match winning streak against the Highlanders. The two teams played each other in September to open the conference slate, with the Panthers coming back from being down 2-0 to win in five sets.
  • Saturday's match will be the first-ever meeting between High Point and Florida State. The Seminoles are currently 10-0 against teams currently in the Big South Conference, with wins against four different teams.

Panther Notes
  • High Point picked up another weekend sweep last week, with a sweep of UNC Asheville and a four-set win over USC Upstate.
  • Junior Abby Bottomley was named Big South Defensive Player of the Week again, making it five times she's picked up the award this year. She totaled 37 digs over the seven sets for an average of 5.29 per set. Bottomley is currently ninth in D1 in total digs (475) and 12th in digs per set (5.46).
  • HPU has now had a Player of the Week seven weeks in a row and eight of the nine weeks the Big South has awarded weekly honors. The Panthers have a total of 11 Big South weekly awards, the most of any school in the conference.
  • Freshman Maggie Salley had a big weekend for the Panthers last week as well, finishing with 30 kills over the two matches. She set a career-best with 16 kills in Friday's win before following that up with another 14 on Saturday. Salley finished the weekend averaging 4.29 kills per set while hitting .244.

Across the Bench
  • Radford lost four of its first five conference matches before turning things around to win three of the last four. The Highlanders swept last weekend, winning in straight sets against both Upstate and Asheville.
  • Senior Stephanie Neast averages 3.03 kills per set to lead the Radford offense, putting her sixth in the Big South.
  • Grace Green averages 3.51 digs per set, putting the sophomore eighth in the conference.
  • Florida State enters the weekend on a two-match winning streak, picking up conference wins against Clemson and Miami last week.
  • The Seminoles are currently receiving votes in the AVCA poll and have been ranked as high as No. 22.
  • Junior Taryn Knuth currently ranks third in the NCAA in blocks per set, averaging 1.65.
  • Payton Caffrey leads FSU's offense with an average of 4.16 kills per set. That puts the senior second in the ACC and 37th in all of D1.

Up Next: High Point hits the road again next weekend for its final road matches of the season before the Big South Tournament. The Panthers travel to play Campbell on Friday, Nov. 8 at 6 p.m. before heading to Virginia to take on Hampton on Saturday at 2 p.m.
