The High Point University volleyball team (14-9, 6-1 Big South) returns home this weekend for a pair of Big South matches, against UNC Asheville (9-8, 3-3 Big South) and USC Upstate (6-13, 2-4 Big South). Friday's match is the annual 'Spook & Spike' match and High Point is celebrating Homecoming on Saturday.

Matchup History
- The Panthers are 13-28 against UNC Asheville but are enjoying some recent success. High Point won both matches last year in straight sets, part of a five-match winning streak against the Bulldogs that extends back to 2016.
- HPU played USC Upstate for the first time last season, winning both matches in the series in straight sets.

Panther Notes
- High Point lost its winning streak last weekend with a 3-0 loss to conference-leading Winthrop before bouncing back with a three-set victory over Gardner-Webb.
- Freshman Kaley Rammelsberg was named Big South Freshman of the Week after picking up 14 kills over six sets with a .571 hitting percentage, tops in the conference last weekend. She also pitched in defensively, averaging 1.17 digs per set and 1.00 blocks per set in the two matches.
- HPU has now had a Player of the Week six weeks in a row and seven of the eight weeks the Big South has awarded weekly honors. The Panthers have a total of 10 Big South weekly awards, the most of any school in the conference.
- Junior Abby Bottomley continues to lead the Panthers defensively, upping her total digs to 438 on the season with an average of 5.48 per set, leading the conference in both categories. Heading into the weekend she ranks seventh in all of D1 in total digs and 10th in digs per set.

Across the Bench
- Asheville and Upstate played each other last weekend, with the Bulldogs coming away victorious in three sets. Asheville enters the weekend having won both of its matches last weekend while the Spartans dropped both.
- Seniors Julia Borges and Ansley Rooks lead the Bulldogs' offense with 163 and 150 kills on the season, respectively.
- Kasey West ranks sixth in the Big South in digs per set, with the junior averaging 3.63.
- Upstate's attack is led by junior Emily Russell's 3.23 kills per set and .336 hitting percentage, both fourth in the conference.
- Senior Gloria Ikenegbu averages 1.09 blocks to pace the team, putting her third in the conference.

Up Next: High Point heads back out onto the road next weekend for a conference match at Radford on Friday, Nov. 1 before returning home to host Florida State on Saturday.
