HIGH POINT, N.C. -- The High Point women's soccer team beat Winthrop 3-0 on Saturday afternoon (Oct 19). With the win High Point clinched the number one seed in the Big South tournament and at least a share of the Big South Regular Season Conference Championship. The victory also extended the Panther's win streak to eight in a row, which is the sixth longest win streak in the nation.
"To clinch the number one seed and turn around like this after a tough year last season, it makes me so proud of this group and the work that they have put in," head coach Brandi Fontaine said. "It started in the offseason in the spring and then all summer long, they came in as one of the fittest groups we have ever had. I am really proud to have this moment right now and share it with them. We have one more game to go and we are looking forward to that game and we have to finish strong and take it to the end. All of this will be even more special if we can take it all the way to the end."Â

Neither team could find an advantage in the first fifteen minutes as play was extremely even.
