HIGH POINT, N.C. -- The High Point University women's soccer team remained the only undefeated team in the Big South while also extending their win streak to six as they beat Radford 3-0 on Saturday night (Oct. 13th). The Panther win was fueled by goals from Emma Schossler who scored two goals and Alex Palmer who scored the third goal on a long-range free-kick.

"We are really happy about the result tonight, this is a huge win for us." Head coach Brandi Fontaine said. "The team has been extremely excited about this game for a long time coming now since last year, we were very excited to get this underway and to get this result was extremely exciting for us." I'm really proud of this team we had a plan coming into this game and the team executed it very well. I could not be more proud of the work they put in tonight."

Radford nearly changed the entire feeling of the game in one moment as they were awarded a penalty kick in the 9th minute of the contest. Senior goalkeeper Talia Klimes was tested early, and she stepped up to the challenge making a diving save to keep the game locked at 0.

The two teams played rather evenly throughout the first half as the Panthers only outshot Radford by two (6-4). However, the Panthers had the upper hand in corners picking up three while Radford only recorded one. Just when it looked like the closely contested game would go into the half tied; the Panthers would strike first late in the half. In the 44th minute, the Panthers capitalized on a corner as Juliette Vidal assisted Emma Schossler to put High Point up 1-0.

Coming out of the break High Point started the second half just like they ended the first, Schossler scored almost immediately after halftime picking up her second goal of the evening in the 48th minute to put HPU up by two. This marked the freshman's third goal of the season.

The exclamation point came in the 83rd minute when Alex Palmer would score on a free-kick not too far away from midfield. The rocket of a shot put the Panthers up 3-0 and powered them to the big win. The goal was Palmer's second of the year.

The 3-0 win marked goalkeeper Talia Klimes 4th shutout of the year. High Point outshot the Highlanders 13 to 5, outshooting them in the 2nd half 7-1. The Panthers recorded 9 corners while Radford had only one.

It was a complete victory for High Point has they extended their win streak to six, the longest active winning streak in the Big South. The first-place Panthers are the only undefeated team remaining in the Big South.

Up next the Panthers travel to Clinton, SC for a midweek Big South contest as HPU takes on the Blue Hose of Presbyterian College on Wednesday (Oct. 16) at 7 pm.
