RADFORD, Va. – The High Point University volleyball team defeated Radford 3-0, 25-15, 25-15, and 25-20, in Radford, Va. today, Sept. 29.

"We had a great week of practice leading up to this match and wanted to make sure we put our best foot forward this weekend," head coach
Ryan Meek said. "I thought our serving really put Radford on their heels and prevented them from running the offense they wanted. We had a great week of practice leading up to this match, and it showed in the way we played. We're excited to get back to Millis on Tuesday against a very good Campbell team and hopefully keep the momentum rolling."

High Point (7-8, 3-1) out hit the Highlanders (11-2, 3-1) .317-.079 and recorded 43 kills to Radford's 32. Freshman
Madison Smith led High Point with a match-high 13 kills with a .417 hitting percentage. Senior
Katie Tylman led the Panthers with a .600 hitting percentage, while sophomore
Abby Bottomley logged a match-high 15 digs.

The Panthers out hit the Highlanders .433-.091 in the first set.
Madison Smith led the team with five kills in the set, while senior
Jordan Hefner was tops on the team with a .500 hitting percentage. They jumped out to an early 15-9 lead and kept Radford at a distance finishing the set 25-15.

In the second set, the Purple & White jumped out to an 18-9, before winning the set 25-15. Senior
Molly Livingston logged three of her eight kills in the second set. HPU recorded a .125 hitting percentage to Radford's -.125.

HPU jumped out to a 13-6 lead over Radford in the third set. Radford cut the score to 21-19, but the Panthers finished the set 25-20. Hefner added six of her seven kills in the final set, while
Madison Smith recorded six kills.

Freshman Mackzenzi Thornburg added a game-high 25 assists for High Point.

Up next, the Panthers will host Campbell Tuesday, Oct. 2 at 7 p.m. to continue Big South play.
