HPU Gets Back On The Road In Greensboro

HIGH POINT, N.C.— High Point University women's soccer travels up the road to UNCG this Monday, facing off with the Spartans for the eighth time in program history at 7 p.m. 

The Panthers look to continue a recent buildup of momentum, working to a double overtime draw with Elon last Friday, while coming within a goal of ACC opponent Virginia Tech last Sunday. UNCG defeated Big South foe Longwood 1-0 last Friday, tying its best start to a season (3-1-1) in the past five years.

On the Panthers
• Goalkeeper Talia Klimes set a career-high against Elon last week, making eight stops in 65 minutes of shutout soccer
• Freshman Shaylyn Owen has played every minute of the Panthers' past three matches, while starting every contest this year
• HPU has earned 7 shutouts in its last 11 games, going back to 2017
• Panther goalkeepers have combined for 30 saves on the year, the most of any other team in the Big South
• Five of High Point's top-seven shot takers are freshman, while first years are responsible for 12 of the Panthers' 16 points this year
 
On the Spartans
• Kaley Tucker and Cienna Rideout have each scored three goals for UNCG this year, with the former holding a team-high seven points on the year
• Goalkeeper Aiyanah Tyler-Cooper has played every minute for the Spartans this year, holding a 1.15 GAA and .760 save percentage
• UNCG also recorded a 0-0 double overtime draw with Elon earlier this year in Elon, N.C.

• The Panthers stand 1-5-1 against UNCG overall, but are 1-1-1 against the Spartans going over the previous three years
• The last time HPU beat the Spartans was in High Point, in a 2-0 shutout win
