HIGH POINT, N.C.— After seeing its regularly scheduled matchup with Longwood get postponed the previous week, High Point University women's soccer opens the Big South season this Wednesday against the Hampton Pirates.Â
The Panthers enter the week after an emotional road win over James Madison University, where junior forward
Alex Denny scored her first goal of the season on a game-winner in the 88th minute. HPU's win was its first victory on the road this season, improving the Panthers' record to 1-2-0 when playing in the state of Virginia this year.
Hampton's lone win of the season came at the end of last month, in a 3-0 shutout victory over visiting Saint Peter's University. The Pirates will be opening their first season as a member of the Big South this week, after having their previous conference opener against Gardner-Webb get cancelled due to weather.Â
