HIGH POINT, N.C. – The High Point University baseball team fell in its series finale against Radford Sunday afternoon at Williard Stadium, 18-6. Despite the setback, HPU claimed its second straight Big South series to open conference play.

"Our pitching was an absolute nightmare today," head coach
Craig Cozart said. "We didn't have a chance to compete because we didn't compete on the mound. It was pretty disappointing when you're in position to sweep a series."

High Point (12-11, 4-2) started off well, receiving a leadoff solo homer in the last of the first from senior
Austen Zente, his third dinger of the year and second in the last three games.

From there, though, Radford (9-13, 2-4) scored multiple runs in six of its next seven at-bats, growing its lead to 17-3 by the end of the eighth inning.

Junior
Conner Dunbar provided a two-run triple in the last of the seventh inning to continue his great weekend. Dunbar had multiple hits in all three games and went 2-for-4 with a triple and two RBI's. Freshman
Travis Holt collected an RBI double in the bottom of the ninth and picked up a multi-hit game as well, going 2-for-4.

Jordan Sergent (1-1) suffered his first loss of the season on the mound for High Point, allowing four runs on four hits in three-plus innings.

The Panthers travel across the Triad for a mid-week contest on Tuesday at UNCG. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. HPU then returns home for a three-game conference series against Winthrop beginning on Thursday at 6 p.m.
