Johnson City, Tenn. – The High Point University volleyball team defeated East Tennessee State 3-2, 25-18, 25-21, 17-25, 18-25 and 17-15, Tuesday, Oct. 9 in Johnson City, Tenn.

"I was proud of our grittiness and the way we fought tonight in a very tough situation," head coach Ryan Meek said. "We came out and executed our game plan to perfection the first two sets. I thought ETSU did a great job changing their attack patterns and set distribution in sets three and four. To see our team come out and make adjustments and fight for a win in the fifth set is a testament to our young women, the work they've put in and our tough preseason. Now we need to get home, get some rest and come out ready to compete against USC Upstate and UNC Asheville this upcoming weekend."
