HIGH POINT, N.C.— High Point University women's soccer preps for its final road test of the 2018 regular season, traveling to Rock Hill, S.C. for a matchup with conference rival Winthrop this Saturday at 1 p.m. The Panthers will be watching the results of Presbyterian's match with Campbell and UNC Asheville's match with Hampton, closely upon the completion of their own contest, as a victory over Winthrop, a Blue Hose loss and a Bulldog loss secures an HPU spot in this year's Big South Championship tournament. 

Panthers Clinch The Postseason:
A) With a win at Winthrop AND a Presbyterian loss to Gardner-Webb AND a UNCA loss to Hampton
B) With a win at Winthrop AND a Presbyterian draw with Gardner-Webb AND a UNCA loss to Hampton

The Panthers look to bounce back from a recent 2-0 loss at Charleston Southern, and improve on a 3-2-2 conference record, which places them fourth in the Big South currently. Entering the post season as the top seed for the past two years, High Point looks to secure a hosting bid in the first round of the conference tournament for a fifth straight campaign, while sitting just a few points away from a 20th straight trip to the Big South championship this Saturday. 

Sitting seventh in conference, Winthrop will be attempting to make it back to the Big South tournament for a second consecutive year, after its one-year hiatus back in 2016. The Eagles enter Saturday's contest on a three-game losing streak however, dropping conference decisions to Campbell, USC Upstate and Radford in the preceding two weeks. Winthrop's matchup with HPU will be its first contest in the past seven days, after its road match at UNC Asheville was washed out on Wednesday.

On the Panthers
• Senior goalkeeper Emily Lyon has held opponents scoreless in seven of her last eight appearances, giving up just a single goal in her past 388 minutes played. Her 0.68 goals against average is far and away the best mark in the Big South, while her .808 save percentage ranks fourth in conference
• Forward Skyler Prillaman received her second Big South Freshman of the Week honor this past Monday, after tallying game-winners against both Presbyterian and UNC Asheville and collecting seven points in her past four appearances
• Prillaman's 15 points are tied for second among conference freshman this year, she trails only Gardner-Webb's Jada Newton (16) for a Big South freshman-best
• Senior midfielder Becca Palmer scored the first goal of her career, on senior night, against UNC Asheville last week, scoring the third goal of a 3-0 shutout victory
• 39 of the Panthers' 60 individual points have been recorded by freshmen this year, with Prillaman (15), Caitlin Shepherd (8), Brooke Parsons (5) and Charla Ward (4), holding four of their team's top-five point totals
• The Panthers match at Rock Hill is their last road test before returning home for the final two contests of the regular season. HPU is 4-1-1 with a goal differential of +12 when playing at Vert Stadium, compared to the 1-6-2 record and -11 differential they have when playing visitor
 
On the Eagles
• Senior keeper Kelly Horan has started all 13 matches for the Eagles this year, her 69 saves rank 43rd in all of Division I women's soccer, while her .767 save percentage sits seventh in the Big South
• Winthrop has committed more fouls than any other team in the conference (131), but their 74 shots against Big South opponents places them ninth in the league
• Junior forward Allie Thomas leads the Eagles in both goals (5) and assists (3), she's currently on a two-match scoring streak, hitting the back of the net against USC Upstate and Radford 
 
Series Notes:
• HPU is 11-5-4 against the Eagles all-time, most recently beating the club 2-0 in the quarterfinals of last year's Big South conference tournament
• The Panthers have not lost to Winthrop since 2013, currently riding a streak of six straight wins against the Eagles
• Winthrop has been shutout five times during HPU's six-match winning streak, getting outscored 10-2 over that span
