HIGH POINT, N.C. – The High Point University volleyball team will get back to conference play this weekend with two matches in the Millis Center. The Panthers (11-8, 6-1) will face USC Upstate (7-14, 3-4) at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 12 and will welcome UNC Asheville (6-10, 1-5) Saturday, Oct. 13 at 2 p.m.
 
On the Panthers
• High Point defeated East Tennessee State (ETSU) 3-2 on the road Tuesday, Oct. 9.
• Senior Molly Livingston leads the Panthers in kills per set at 2.79 and hitting percentage at .332. The Sun Prairie, Wis. native ranks second in the Big South in hitting percentage.
• Sophomore Abby Bottomley is the top defensive player for HPU averaging 5.55 digs per set, which leads the Big South and ranks 15^th in the NCAA. The Virginia Beach, Va. native is coming off setting a program and career-high with 42 digs against ETSU.
• Freshman Madison Smith was named Big South Freshman of the week Monday, Oct. 8. She recorded 32 kills and 35 points over three matches the week prior. Smith logged 12 kills a .556 hitting percentage and 13 points against Campbell. She followed that with nine kills against Presbyterian and 11 kills against Charleston Southern.
 
On the Spartans
• USC Upstate is coming off a 3-1 win over UNC Asheville on Tuesday, Oct. 9. The Spartans fell to Winthrop 3-1 and defeated Gardner-Webb 3-0 over the weekend.
• Redshirt-sophomore Emily Russell leads USC Upstate offensively with 2.27 kills per set and .230 hitting percentage. Russell also ranks second in the Big South and leads the Spartans with 1.09 blocks per set.
• Senior Payton Duncan leads the Spartans in digs at 3.32 per set.
• Head coach Jennifer Calloway is in her 23^rd season at USC Upstate. She has amassed 347 wins in her career.
 
On the Bulldogs
• UNC Asheville fell to USC Upstate 3-1 on the road on Tuesday, Oct. 9. The Bulldogs defeated Gardner-Webb 3-0 and fell to Winthrop 3-1 this past weekend.
• Senior Cara Guthrie leads UNC Asheville in kills per set at 3.20, while junior Ansley Rooks is tops on the team in hitting percentage at .251.
• Senior Madisen Zyburt is the top defensive player for the Bulldogs averaging 4.95 digs per set, which ranks third in the Big South in the category.
• This season is head coach Fredrico Santos' eighth season in Asheville, N.C. He currently has 98 wins in his time with the Bulldogs.
