BUIES CREEK, N.C. – The High Point University women's basketball team used a balanced effort to earn a road victory at Campbell on Tuesday night in Gore Arena for the squad's seventh straight win.

The Panthers (11-5) turned the tables on the Camels (9-7, 2-3) holding the nation's No. 5 defense without a field goal for nearly seven minutes in the second half to pull away. After a back-and-forth start to the second half, Campbell held a 41-40 lead before senior
Kat Harris sparked a 13-1 run and the home team could never recover.

Harris finished the night with a game-high 16 points with 10 coming after halftime. Keeping the Purple & White close early on, sophomore
Camryn Brown scored 14 of her 15 points in the first half including buzzer-beaters in the first and second quarters.

The victory gives the Panthers their first 5-0 record in the Big South since 2011-12 and makes them alone at the top of the league after Liberty lost at UNC Asheville on Tuesday. Similarly, the Purple & White have won their last meeting with each of their conference opponents.

"We grew a lot throughout the course of the game tonight," head coach
DeUnna Hendrix said. "We still have some room to mature, but we're learning. I felt like our poise tonight was the most impressive part about our game tonight. Campbell is a great defensive team, but we can score and I believe a great offense can score on a great defense."

On the inside, junior
Shea Morgan provided 14 points, seven rebounds and two assists. Meanwhile, redshirt-junior
Kennedy Currie added eight rebounds and three steals as the Panthers outrebounded Campbell 28-27.

The HPU defense forced the methodical Camel offense into 18 turnovers, which allowed the team to overcome being outshot 45.5 percent to 41.2 percent on the night.

Per usual, the Panthers took advantage of their opponent's miscues scoring 14 points off turnovers and hitting 12-of-14 free throw attempts.

After hitting their first three shots, HPU went scoreless until Brown beat the buzzer with a long-range three as HPU trailed 16-12 through 10 minutes. The second quarter played out in reverse of the first. The Panthers were shooting 3-of-8 before finishing that half hitting 3-of-4 including another buzzer-beating trifecta from Brown to enter the break up 32-28.

In the second half, the lead went back and forth until Harris and Bockrath canned three-pointers to anchor a 13-1 run. The run, which featured a nearly seven-minute field goal drought for Campbell, gave the Panthers a 51-40 advantage with 6:55 to play.

Although Campbell pulled as close as five at 58-53 with 59 seconds to play, the Panthers went 4-of-4 at the line to close out the 62-53 triumph.

The Panthers return to the Millis Center on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. to play host to the Longwood Lancers.
