CLINTON, S.C. – The High Point University baseball team dropped its first game of the weekend against Presbyterian College by a score of 13-1 on Friday afternoon in Clinton, S.C.
Senior
Jeremy Johnson took the loss for the Panthers after allowing 10 runs, eight earned on eight hits and two walks in 2-2/3 innings of action.
Brian Kehner allowed just one run on six hits in six innings for the Blue Hose to improve to 4-2 on the season.
High Point drops to 20-17 overall and 7-9 in the Big South with the loss while Presbyterian College improves to 21-19 overall 9-4 in conference play.
The Blue Hose jumped out to a 12-0 lead in the first three innings, scoring three times in the first, four in the second and five in the third.
HPU scored its only run of the contest in the sixth when redshirt-senior
Tim Mansfield scored on a bases-loaded grounder by junior
Hunter Lee. Mansfield finished 2-3 in the game and was one of two Panthers with multiple hits as freshman
Cody Oerther went 2-3 after entering for junior
Spencer Brown.
High Point will close out the series against the Blue Hose on Saturday, April 22, when the two teams meet in a doubleheader at the PC Baseball Complex in Clinton, S.C. First pitch for the first game is set for 11 a.m.
