Holloway sets career high in 4-0 loss to Winthrop

• High Point dropped the second game of Saturday's doubleheader at Winthrop by a score of 4-0 on Saturday afternoon.
• Freshman Trevor Holloway went a career-high seven innings, allowing two runs on five hits.
• The Panthers return home for a game against inter-Triad rival Elon on Tuesday, March 28, at Williard Stadium.

ROCK HILL, S.C. – Freshman Trevor Holloway set a new career high in innings pitched but the High Point University baseball team came up short in a 4-0 loss to Winthrop on Saturday afternoon in Rock Hill, S.C.

Holloway allowed just two earned runs on five hits and a walk while striking out five in his seven innings of work. His previous career high was six innings at Kennesaw State.

Colton Rendon earned the win for Winthrop with seven scoreless innings in which he allowed just five hits and two walks while striking out two.

High Point drops to 10-12 overall and 1-5 in the Big South with the loss. Winthrop improves to 13-11 overall and 5-1 in conference play.

The game remained scoreless until the sixth inning when Winthrop got on the board with a run off an RBI single from Anthony Paulsen. The Eagles added three runs in the eighth to extend their advantage to 4-0.

Junior Blake Schunk had two of the Panthers' four hits, finishing 2-4 at the plate in the contest.

The Panthers play two midweek contests this week starting with a home game against inter-Triad rival Elon on Tuesday, March 28, at Williard Stadium. First pitch is set for 6 p.m.
