HIGH POINT, N.C.—The High Point University men's basketball team hits the road for its final regular-season road contest Saturday (Feb. 18) at Charleston Southern. Tip-off at the Buc Dome is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
 
Kevin Burke will be on the call on the High Point Panthers Radio Network, with pre-game coverage beginning at 5 p.m.

• The Panthers can match the program high of seven Big South road wins with a victory in North Charleston, S.C.
 
• The Panthers are coming off a three-point loss at Liberty on Tuesday night, 55-52. Redshirt-senior Miles Bowman Jr. and sophomores Andre Fox and Ricky Madison combined to score 42 of the Panthers 52 points in the game.
 
• After missing two seasons with knee injuries, redshirt-senior Miles Bowman Jr. has emerged as one of the top players in the Big South. He is 10th in the league in scoring at 13.8 points per game and is averaging 15.3 points per game in conference play. The redshirt-senior ranks among the nation's leaders in free throw shooting and rebounding and he is tied for the Big South lead with 11 double-doubles in 25 games. He is one of just 36 players in the nation to record at least 11 double-doubles this season.
 
• Despite ranking as one of the shortest teams in Div. I this season according to KenPom, High Point has been one of the top rebounding teams in the Big South since the start of league play. The Panthers won the rebounding battle in 11-straight games prior to facing Radford last Saturday and have allowed just 32.1 rebounds per game, tops in the conference. Bowman Jr. is ranked third in the Big South and 88th in the nation with 8.3 rebounds per game.
 
• HPU has excelled in free throw shooting on the road, going 185-239 (.774). Overall, High Point ranks third in the Big South and 92nd in the nation in free throw percentage at .727 (392-539). Redshirt-senior Miles Bowman Jr., leads the Big South and is 18th in the nation in free throw percentage at .903 (84-93).

HISTORY vs. CHARLESTON SOUTHERN
High Point holds a 20-16 advantage in 36 all-time meetings between HPU and Charleston Southern. The Panthers won an overtime thriller in High Point, 72-69, on Jan. 26, 2017.  Andre Fox led all scorers with 22 points, including eight of the Panthers' 11 points in overtime. Redshirt-senior Miles Bowman Jr., scored the first points in the overtime with a layup and Fox then hit four-straight free throws as the Panthers scored the first six points of overtime to go ahead 67-61. Charleston Southern pulled back within two thanks to four unanswered points but was unable to get even as HPU went 5-6 from the free throw in the final minute with Fox going 4-4. Charleston Southern's last win over High Point in the series was Feb. 28, 2015, a 97-93 three-overtime win at the Buc Dome.
 
HISTORY vs. OPPONENTS FROM SOUTH CAROLINA
High Point has complied a 79-90 (.467) record all-time against Div. I programs hailing from the Palmetto State. HPU's most common opponents are Winthrop (14-27, .341), Coastal Carolina (16-21, .432) and Charleston Southern (20-16, .555). High Point is 50-51 (.495) against Big South programs from South Carolina and 29-39 (.426) against the rest of the state's Div. I teams. HPU is 4-2 against teams from South Carolina this season having won the last four, including overtime wins over Charleston Southern and Winthrop and two wins over Presbyterian.
 
A LOOK AT THE BUCCANEERS (9-17, 5-10 BIG SOUTH)
Charleston Southern is eighth in the Big South and a game out of sixth place after defeating Campbell 72-69 on Wednesday night. The Bucs overcame a 13-0 deficit to start the game, cutting the Fighting Camel lead to five by halftime. Freshman Christian Keeling scored 17 of his 22 points in the second half to lead CSU. Keeling is fourth in the Big South in scoring with 16.8 points per game, while Keeling (6.5 rpg) and junior Javis Howard (6.0) are eighth and ninth in the conference in rebounding, respectively.
 
UP NEXT
The Panthers return home for their final two regular-season games, starting with Campbell on Feb. 23 at 7 p.m. HPU's contest with Gardner-Webb is scheduled for Feb. 28 with a 4 p.m. tip-off.
