High Point Notes:
• HPU can earn at least a share of the second regular season championship in program history with a win against the Blue Hose. The Panthers would also clinch the No. 1 seed and home field advantage in the Big South Tournament with a triumph.
• The Panthers are in this position thanks, in part, to a 2-0 victory over Liberty on Wednesday. Sophomore
Ryan Inman and senior
Ebe Kudolo provided the markers for HPU's fourth straight conference victory.
• HPU has found its offensive stroke the last three matches, posting nine goals in three wins. Prior to the outburst, HPU had scored seven goals in its previous nine matches and 12 goals overall. High Point is now second in the Big South in goals in conference games (14).
• Sophomore goalkeeper
Keegan Meyer has turned the corner over his last nine matches. In that stretch, he has allowed just five goals in 867:25 in net (0.52 GAA). Meyer leads the Big South in GAA (0.50) and save percentage (.885) in conference games.
• HPU has won or tied 36 of its last 49 games (25-12-12) dating back to 2015. Of the 49 matches, 33 have been decided by one goal or ended in a tie. The Panthers have now had a four-game conference winning streak in each of the last two seasons.
Presbyterian Notes:
• The Blue Hose enter play Saturday having alternated wins and losses in their last four matches, most recently falling at Appalachian State, 2-1, on Tuesday.
• Presbyterian had posted three wins in conference play, all via shutout. The Blue Hose are second in the league in GAA (0.83), having yielded just five goals in six games.
• Connor Behrend is responsible for the strong numbers in net, ranking second in the league in GAA (0.80) and save pct (.800).
• Clement Vannier is the team's top point-getter with 10 (4G, 2A). He is one of five players to score multiple goals this year.
Series Notes:
• High Point and Presbyterian are meeting for just the 14th time in program history on Saturday night.
• HPU is winless in the last two meetings (0-1-1), both needing extra time. The Panthers fell 2-1 in 2OT in the conference opener last year and drew 0-0 in 2015.
• The school have met every year since 2007 and last season was the first matchup in which High Point did not come away with at least one point.
• The Panthers defeated the Blue Hose, 5-1, en route to the program's only other Big South title in 2010.
