High Point Notes:
           • High Point enters its home opener with a 1-0-1 record after earning a 0-0 draw at UNCG and a 2-1 win at Elon last weekend.
           • Junior
Alex Hank, the defending Big South Defensive Player of the Year, picked up where she left off last season by earning the first Big South Defensive Player of the Week award of 2016. Hank allowed one goal in 200 minutes of soccer while making seven saves in the contests against the Spartans and Phoenix.

Bri Jean-Charles both scored in the Panthers' win at Elon on Aug. 21. Junior
Becca Rolfe assisted on the Kowalski goal to earn HPU's first assist of the season.
           • The win over Elon was head coach
Marty Beall's 70th at High Point University. Beall is 70-62-22 in eight seasons with the program and is HPU's all-time leader in wins.
           • Friday's game is part of an HPU soccer double header and will be followed by the men's soccer game against East Tennessee State.

Appalachian State Notes:
           • Appalachian State opened the 2016 season with back-to-back wins over Northern Kentucky and Davidson. The Mountaineers earned a 3-1 home win over NKU in the season opener on Aug. 19 then picked up a 1-0 victory at Davidson on Aug. 21.
           • Redshirt-sophomore forward Erin Settle has scored a goal in each game for the Mountaineers and leads the team with four points. Senior forward Jane Cline has a goal and an assist through two games and is second behind Settle in points with three.
           • Junior Sam Steyl has played all 180 minutes in goal for ASU and is 2-0-0 this season. She has made eight saves while posting a 0.50 goals-against average.

           • Friday's match will be sixth all-time meeting between High Point and Appalachian State.
           •The Mountaineers hold a slim 3-2 advantage in the series after earning a 1-0 home win over the Panthers last season. The loss was the first of the season for HPU.
           * High Point's last win in the series came in 2013 when the Panthers won in double overtime by a score of 2-1 at Vert Stadium. Redshirt-senior
