• Senior Emily Meier posted six points on two goals and four assists

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – The High Point University women's lacrosse team picked up its second-straight win to start league play with a 15-10 victory at Campbell on Wednesday night inside Barker-Lane Stadium.
 
HPU led 9-5 at the half and extended its lead by as many as seven (14-7) midway through the second stanza. With the victory, HPU improves to 6-4 (2-0 Big South) while Campbell falls to 5-6 (1-1 Big South).
 
"This was a game of momentum swings tonight," head coach Lyndsey Boswell said. "We received contributions from a number of players that helped us bounce back when Campbell put together their runs. It's good to see we're able to still grind out a win when we don't play our best lacrosse."
 
Freshman midfielder Sam Herman played an excellent all-around game for HPU, tallying a hat trick to go along with three draw controls, three caused turnovers and three ground balls.
 
Senior Emily Meier led the HPU offense with six points on two goals and four assists while picking up four ground balls, while sophomore Erica Perrotta tied a career best with five points (2g, 3a). Senior Kasey Callaway also tied a career-high with two goals off the bench for the Panthers.
 
Defensively, senior Kristina Renner notched a team-best three caused turnovers and registered two draw controls and a goal, while seniors Christina Del Sesto and Tori Dunster and sophomore Casey Kotchenreuter each added two caused turnovers for the Purple & White. The Panthers held a Campbell team averaging 13 goals per game to 10 in the contest and forced 25 Camel turnovers on the night.

HPU also held the nation's leading goal scorer Loren Day (4.1/game) to just two scores for the game.
 
Freshman goalie Molly Andrews registered nine saves in the cage in a full 60 minutes of action for the Panthers.
 
Campbell posted the first score of the game, before HPU posted three straight goals in a little over a minute to take a 3-1 lead at the 23:39 mark of the first half. Renner posted a free position goal to put HPU back up 4-3 with 12:44 to go in the half, but Campbell answered to tie it up again (4-4).
 
Goals from Gaeng, Herman and Meier fueled a 3-0 HPU run that put the Panthers back up three (7-4) and HPU took a 9-5 lead into the break after Herman's second goal with 38 seconds to play in the period.
 
Campbell cut the High Point lead to three (9-6, 10-7) on a pair of occasions early in the second half, but the Panthers broke the game open with four straight scores over the next nine minutes to take control of the contest.
 
Senior Kasey Callaway punctuated the run with a goal at the 16:01 mark to make the score 14-7 in favor of the Panthers.
 
The Camels could not move closer than four for the remainder of the game.
 
HPU continues its two-game road swing Saturday (Apr. 2) with a contest at Presbyterian (2-8, 0-2 Big South). First draw between the Panthers and Blue Hose is scheduled for 2 p.m.
