HIGH POINT, N.C. – The High Point University volleyball team is off to Chapel Hill, N.C. to take on No. 7 North Carolina in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday at 6:30 p.m.

The Panthers (23-9) will be making their second appearance in the NCAA Tournament in program history after the 2010 squad became the first.

SUCCESS AGAINST THE ACC
The Panthers went 2-1 against ACC opponents during the fall with wins at N.C. State and Wake Forest and a four-set defeat at Clemson on the opening weekend.

ALL-TIME AGAINST THE TAR HEELS
North Carolina has won 10 of the 11 meetings between the two programs. The last meeting came in the season-opener in 2004 when UNC earned a 3-1 victory. Meanwhile, HPU's win in the series came on Oct. 4, 1976 by a 2-1 score.

Haley Barnes was named to the All-Big South First Team for the second time in as many years.
Molly Livingston joined HPU's top outside hitter on the first team while
Jordan Hefner made the second team and
Savannah Angel earned honorable mention accolades.

Jordan Hefner has racked up 136 blocks on the year, which is the most by a HPU player since the program moved to the Division I ranks.

• With Hefner leading the conference,
Molly Livingston placed eighth in the league with 0.98 blocks her set. Her 115 blocks are the second-most in a single season in HPU's Div. I era.

• The 2.30 blocks per set were the most by any High Point team since the program made the switch to Div. I.

HPU DIGGIN' THE POSTSEASON
• The Panthers averaged 15.24 digs per set during the regular season, but turned up the defensive intensity since postseason play began. In the Big South Championship, the team tallied 18.23 digs per frame in the three matches.

• After switching to libero,
Megan Kennedy averaged 4.77 digs per set during the Big South Championship.

RIDING A WINNING STREAK
The Panthers are winners of their last five matches, which is tied for their longest winning streak of the season.

BIG SOUTH'S NCAA TOURNAMENT HISTORY
The Big South has never had a team advance past the first round and is 1-23 all-time - Coastal Carolina's win came in the play-in game in 1996.
