Meet ScheduleHIGH POINT, N.C. – The High Point University men's track & field team returns from its holiday break to compete in the Wake Forest Invitational Saturday at the JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, N.C.
Field events begin at 9:30 a.m, with the high jump, shot put and weight throw. Events on the track kick off with the 60m hurdles at 9:50 a.m.
High Point's jumps unit will be out in full force Saturday, starting with junior
Pat Irwin suiting up in the high jump at 9:30 a.m. Irwin also will compete in the triple jump at 10 a.m. Three Panthers will compete in the long jump, including senior
Adam DeVito, senior
Will Narramore and freshman
Brad Kanney.
In throws action, senior
Jim Wilson will lead the Panthers in the shot put along with freshman
Britton Mann. Mann also will suit up in the weight throw. The Clarence, N.Y., native opened the 2015-16 indoor season with a fifth-place finish in the shot put (13.56m, 44-6) at the JDL Kickoff Classic in December.
On the track, senior
Dennis Crawford leads off for HPU in the 60m hurdles at 9:50 a.m. At noon, senior
Andrew Kuras, sophomore
James House and freshmen
Sean Banda and
Christian Langston will race in the 60m dash. House, Kuras and Langston will be joined by Kanney in the 200m dash at 3:05 p.m.
Senior
Nick Hula will join freshman
Larry Perez in the 400m dash at 12:40 p.m., while freshmen
Spencer Ader and
Bryan Gonzalez will compete in the 3000m run at 1:40 p.m.
HPU's mid-distance unit gets cracking at 3:30 p.m. with the 600m dash. The Panther contingent will include senior
Paul O'Donoghue, junior
Nick Williams and freshman
Patrick Van Der Cruyssen. Freshman
Jeff Mettler races in the mile run at 4:10 p.m.
High Point wraps up the day with the 4x400m relay at 4:50 p.m. The Panthers will race two teams in the event. The first will feature Crawford, Hula, O'Donoghue and Van Der Cruyssen, while the second will include Williams, Perez, Irwin and Narramore.
