Live VideoHIGH POINT, N.C. – The High Point University volleyball team plays host to North Carolina A&T on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. in the Millis Center.
Tuesday's contest is the Purple & White's (5-6) eighth match in their last nine outings at home. Following this game the schedule flips and HPU is on the road for the next four contests before opening conference play on Sept. 25 at home versus Campbell.
Last Time Out:High Point hosted the Panther Invitational on Sept. 11-12 and finished 1-2 with a win over Davidson and hard-fought setbacks to Marshall and Wake Forest. Senior
Annemarie Chin starred on the defensive end for the Panthers racking up 5.38 digs per set over the weekend to earn all-tournament honors.
Meanwhile, sophomore
Haley Barnes had a solid two days on both sides of the net. The Neenah, Wis. native tallied three double-doubles in the tournament including a career-best 25-kill, 23-dig performance against Marshall. On Saturday night, sophomore
Camryn Freiberg posted a career-high 16 kills to go with four blocks against Wake Forest.
A Look at the Aggies:North Carolina A&T (2-5) cohosted the Spartan-Aggie Invitational with UNCG on Sept. 11-12 and, like HPU, finished with a 1-2 record. The Aggies fell in four sets to Alabama State on Friday before being swept by UNCG on Saturday morning. However, A&T pulled out a dramatic 3-2 win over Norfolk State in the tournament's final match.
Senior Brooke Stamnes leads the squad's attack with 2.75 kills per set as freshman Kayla Finnerty dishes out 7.85 assists per set. Sophomore Alyssa Pitt will provide an obstacle for HPU with her 1.00 blocks per set. In the back row, the Aggies will rely on senior Ashley Johnson (3.43 digs per set) to get to anything that gets past Pitt.
Last Time They Met:The programs last met on Sept. 13, 2013 when the Panthers earned a victory in straight sets. In that match, HPU tallied a 42-35 margin in digs with 25 coming from then-sophomores Annemarie and

Savannah Angel also had a solid night posting five kills while hitting at a .417 clip.

Annemarie Chin is sitting atop the Big South and at sixth in the nation with 5.82 digs per set.
• Sophomore
Haley Barnes has recorded six double-doubles in 11 matches this season; she had four all of last year.
• Barnes is second in the Big South with 3.70 kills per set after tallying a career-high 25 against Marshall.
• HPU leads the league and is 13th nationally with 17.22 digs per set.
• Junior
Greta Griswold has become a serving specialist for HPU and is tied for the lead in the Big South with 0.45 aces per set.
• Freshman
Jordan Hefner is eighth in the conference in hitting percentage (.285) and blocks (0.90 per set) – tops among freshmen in both categories.
Next Up:HPU will head north to Loretto, Pa. for St. Francis' Red Flash Classic on Sept. 18-19. The Panthers open the tournament at 4:30 p.m. on Friday against Coppin State before taking on host St. Francis (1:00 p.m.) and Fordham (4:30 p.m.) on Saturday.
