HIGH POINT, N.C. – High Point University pole vaulters
Alyssa Palenchar and
Austin Miller swept the Big South's weekly indoor field athlete of the week honors after outstanding performances at the Penn State National Invitational this past weekend.

Palenchar broke the HPU indoor pole vault school record with a mark of 3.72m (12-2.5) to finish fourth a strong field in Happy Valley. Palenchar's vault eclipsed the previous school record she shared with
Jill Marois by .07m and set the top mark in the Big South so far this season.

Palenchar's Big South weekly honor is the second of her career, as the Bradenville, Pa., native was previously named the league's indoor field athlete of the week after clearing 3.40m (11-1.75) to break HPU's then-school record vault at the Wake Forest Invitational on Jan. 11, 2014.

Miller earns Big South Indoor Field Athlete of the Week honors for the second-straight week and third time in four meets this season after posting a solid mark of 4.96m (16-3.25) on Friday at Penn State. Miller set a new school record on Jan. 25 at the JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem with a mark of 5.05m (16-6.75).

Both the men's and women's HPU track & field teams return to action this weekend at the ETSU Johnson City Indoor T&F Invitational on Feb. 6-7.
