HIGH POINT, N.C. – The High Point University volleyball team continues its 4-match homestand hosting Winthrop and Presbyterian in the Millis Center this weekend.

The Panthers (13-7, 3-1), winners of seven of their last eight matches, host the Eagles on Friday at 7:00 p.m. before entertaining the Blue Hose on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.

Dig Pink:
The match against Presbyterian on Saturday is HPU's Dig Pink match.

Last Time Out:
Last weekend, the Purple & White welcomed Radford and Liberty to the Millis Center and earned two 4-set wins. Sophomore Camryn Freiberg led the way in both matches with 15 and 16 kills, respectively.

Meanwhile, senior Gabi Mirand racked up 43 assists and 11 digs against Radford before tallying 46 assists and 14 digs in the win over Liberty. Senior Annemarie Chin continued her stellar defensive play with 5.88 digs per set in the two matches.

Scouting the Eagles:
Winthrop (8-12, 3-2), the preseason pick to finish third in the league, opened conference play with a loss to Coastal Carolina. The Eagles, then, rebounded to beat Charleston Southern, Presbyterian and UNC Asheville before dropping a 5-setter at Gardner-Webb.

Redshirt-freshman Lourdes Rosario's 3.25 kills per set leads Winthrop's attack while freshman Madilyn McCarty is dishing out a league-best 10.26 assists per frame. In the middle, the duo of senior Rachel Lenz and junior Briana Gray combine for 3.44 kills and 2.15 blocks per set.

Last Time They Met:
The Panthers and Eagles met once last season in Rock Hill, S.C. In that match, Freiberg paced HPU with 14 kills on just 21 attack attempts. Meanwhile, Mirand added 9.00 assists and 3.00 digs per set in the 3-set triumph.

Scouting the Blue Hose:
Presbyterian (3-15, 1-4) opened conference play with a win over Charleston Southern before dropping its next four matches. The Blue Hose starts its weekend at Campbell on Friday before continuing on to High Point.

The offense features three players registering over 2.00 kills per set led by sophomore Rachel Elshoff (2.04 k/s).  At the service line, junior McKayla Register (0.37 aces/set) and freshman Jaclyn Brewington (0.32 aces/set) form one of the most dangerous serving duos in the Big South.

Last Time They Met:
Despite a 10-kill outing by Barnes, PC got the better of High Point in Clinton, S.C. on Oct. 18, 2014. In that match, then-junior Wavie Chin led the defense with 18 digs while Mirand posted 39 assists and 14 digs.

Panther Notes:
