Junior hurdler
Alex Fisher set a school record in the 60-meter hurdles to lead the High Point University men's track & field team at the Virginia Tech Challenge on Friday and Saturday in Blacksburg, Va. Fisher ran a time of 8.24 seconds to place fourth.

Justin Conaway ran better and
Corey Grove took a step forward.
Fisher ran a time of 8.35 seconds to place fifth in the preliminaries and advance to the final of the 60-meter hurdles. He came back with his career best 8.24 to finish fourth. His previous best was 8.34 at the Kent Taylor Run for the Kids meet at North Carolina in January. Fisher also placed 22nd in the 200-meter in a time of 24.27. Freshman
Evan Emery ran the 200-meter but was disqualified.
Freshman
Ryan Venable placed ninth in the preliminaries of the 60-meter hurdles with a season-best time of 8.50. He was the first runner to miss the finals in that event, as the top eight advanced.
Senior
Justin Conaway placed ninth in the 60-meter dash, just missing the top eight to qualify for the finals. Senior
Corey Grove placed 26th in the 800-meter with a season-best time of 1:56.76.
The meet at Virginia Tech was the Panthers' last before the Big South Championship, which will be held at Clemson next Thursday and Friday. The Panthers finished fourth in the 2010 Big South Indoor Championship.
